Sunday afternoon\u2019s beatdown in Miami is causing more than a few ice cream headaches in Boston, where it is no longer considered a cinch that the Celtics will be making another deep playoff run.<\/p>\n

Fact is, like last year Boston has been pretty much an average team down the stretch and Doc Rivers will be spending the final two games of the regular season \u2013 includes tonight at Washington \u2013 figuring out just what is wrong and how to fix it before playoffs start in five or six days.<\/p>\n

The Kendrick Perkins deal was made with the belief that eventually Shaquille O\u2019Neal would be back. O\u2019Neal, however, has given no indication that he will be in the lineup when the Celtics start post-season play this coming weekend against either New York or Philadelphia. And even if the Big Shamrock does come back, is he in anywhere near good enough shape to participate in a prolonged playoff run?<\/p>\n

But O\u2019Neal is only one problem facing Rivers and the Celtics:<\/p>\n

***Boston has to deal with the puzzling moods of point guard Rajon Rondo, who is believed still ticked off that his friend Perkins was traded.<\/p>\n

***What\u2019s going on with Ray Allen, who can\u2019t seem to get open anymore. His lack of production is toxic to a halfcourt offense that wasn\u2019t all that great anyway. \"Online<\/p>\n

***Rebounding is a huge problem. Late in the first half of the Miami game the Heat had more offensive rebounds than Boston had total rebounds. Part of that is Boston\u2019s fanatical desire get its defense set, but still . . .<\/p>\n

Boston has been waiting for the playoffs for months, hoping that last year\u2019s run to The Finals can be repeated. Maybe. Maybe not. It just seems like the Daytona 500 is about to start, and the Celtics can\u2019t figure out how to plug an oil leak. <\/p>\n

\nBOS are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 Mon. games.

BEST BET<\/strong>: Last season these teams played a similar game late in the season \u2013 Celtics were thinking about the playoffs and the Wizards came in to Boston and spanked them. Meant nothing. Same deal tonight. <\/p>\n
