After losing four out of six games, the Dallas Mavericks have now won four straight. Dallas sits in the third spot in the Western Conference standings. <\/p>\n

The Mavericks look like they\u2019ll get Portland or New Orleans in the first round of the playoffs, but there are still a lot of possibilities in the Western Conference. <\/p>\n

The Clippers have been out of the playoff race for a long time now, but the team is healthier now than they have been in quite some time.<\/p>\n

Dallas is led by MVP candidate Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki is shooting an amazing 52.2% from the floor this year, which is easily the best mark of his eight-year NBA career. He is always the team\u2019s first option in crunch time, and his ability to knock down free throws is key for the Mavericks. Jason Terry is the second leading scorer for the team, and he is a clutch fourth quarter player. \"Sports <\/p>\n

Shawn Marion doesn\u2019t put up the big offensive statistics, but he is a key part of this team. Marion is the Mavericks best defender and he is able to play many different positions. <\/p>\n

Tyson Chandler gives the team a shot blocking presence down low that they haven\u2019t had in the past. Jason Kidd averages 8.4 assists and just 2.3 turnovers per game at the point guard spot.<\/p>\n

Blake Griffin has brought a lot of excitement back to the Clippers team. Griffin\u2019s first year in the NBA has been nothing short of extraordinary. He is averaging 22.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game this year. Eric Gordon has missed quite a bit of time with an injury, but he is healthy again. Gordon is the team\u2019s leading scorer, and he is a solid shooter from all over the floor. <\/p>\n

Mo Williams came from Cleveland and he provides the team with some extra scoring. The Clippers have lost a lot of close games this year because they simply aren\u2019t good at all from the free throw line. <\/p>\n

In the long run if they wish to get into the playoffs, this team needs to improve defensively and make their free throws at a higher rate.<\/p>\n
