The No.11 seed Marquette Golden Eagles will try and keep the clock from striking midnight this Friday night with a win over the No.2 seed North Carolina Tar Heels in the first game of the East Region semifinals in this year\u2019s NCAA Men\u2019s Tournament. Tip-off from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.<\/p>\n

Marquette and Connecticut are the two lone entries in the Sweet 16 from the Big East\u2019s 11-school contingent in this tournament. The Golden Eagles advanced to this point with a 66-55 victory over No.6 seed Xavier as a one-point favorite followed by a thrilling 66-62 victory over one of its conference foes, No.3 seed Syracuse as a 4 \u00bd-point underdog. <\/p>\n

Darius Johnson-Odom scored a team-high 17 points including a crucial three pointer with 27 seconds left to help secure the win over the Orange. Odom and Jimmy Butler are each averaging 16 points a game on the year. Marquette is shooting 46.8 percent from the field and averaging 76.1 points a game. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

North Carolina earned a No.2 seed for this tournament by winning nine of its last 10 games off the season. It then proceeded to crush No.15 seed Long Island 102-87 in its first game of this tournament as an 18 \u00bd-point favorite. The Tar Heels needed some late-game heroics to hold off No.7 seed Washington in an 86-83 victory as a four-point favorite in the third round.<\/p>\n

Tyler Zeller scored a game-high 23 points and freshman forward Harrison Barnes added 22 points in the win over the Huskies. Zeller and Barnes are North Carolina\u2019s two leading scorers; each averaging just over 15 points a game. Throw in John Henson, who is averaging 11.9 points and team-high 10.1 rebounds a game, and you have the Tar Heels version of their big three.<\/p>\n

North Carolina should be able use its advantage under the boards to create opportunities on both ends of the court to win and cover the 4.5 points.<\/p>\n
