March Madness doesn\u2019t only apply to college basketball. There are plenty of NBA teams jockeying for playoff positioning, and Friday has some fantastic matchups. The Hawks host the Heat tonight.<\/p>\n

The Heat (46-22, 31-36-1 ATS) had been on a fantastic roll, winning three straight games against heady competition (Lakers, Grizzlies, Spurs). The streak was halted Wednesday, though, as Oklahoma City proved too much in a 96-85 Miami loss. The loss also ended a three-game winning streak against the spread, as Miami was a six-point favorite.<\/p>\n

Oklahoma City found a way to penetrate Miami\u2019s defense. The Heat\u2019s recent winning streak came compliments of a suffocating \u201cD\u201d that kept three high-scoring teams below 90 points each. But despite giving up 96 points to Miami, the team can\u2019t be too upset\u2014it held the Thunder to 39.8 percent shooting from the field. If the Heat can do that on a nightly basis, they\u2019ll be fine.<\/p>\n

At the other end of the floor, the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh combined for 61 points. Considering the lack of talent around them, however, they need to be much better than that. The trio had a very poor night shooting the ball, combining to make just 21 of 59 shots (35.5 percent). Cutting back on three-point shooting would have benefitted Miami tremendously. The club made just three of its 17 three-point attempts against Oklahoma City. Obviously, poor shot selection is a problem with this team at times.<\/p>\n

Atlanta (39-29, 30-38 ATS) recently ended a four-game losing streak by winning back-to-back games, but the Hawks were blown out 102-87 by Denver on Wednesday. The loss dropped the club to 2-5 in its last seven games against the spread. \"Online<\/p>\n

Poor play from the team\u2019s best players continues to be an issue. Fans have probably had just about enough of Jamal Crawford at this point. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year had another forgettable night, scoring just 13 points against the Nuggets. At least that was a big improvement over his four-point effort in the previous game.<\/p>\n

Speaking of struggling players, Atlanta absolutely has to find a way to get Al Horford going again. Horford has played very well this season, but he\u2019s completely melted down in March. He hasn\u2019t scored more than 17 points in six straight games, and he failed to crack double digits in three of those outings.<\/p>\n

Miami may be coming off a loss, but it\u2019s playing infinitely better than the dysfunctional Hawks. Take the Heat.<\/p>\n
