Sixty-six games played, 16 left and Portland Trail Blazers are still unsure what they\u2019ve got. A playoff spot in the lower reaches of the Western Conference (6th, 7th, 8th) is probable, but staying alive even into the second round would be a stunning achievement. Coach Nate McMillan is good, but he isn\u2019t that good.<\/p>\n

Portland\u2019s somewhat puzzling season was on full display in the Blazers\u2019 recent road swing through the Southeast Division, when they won two games that they shouldn\u2019t have won (Miami, Orlando) and lost two games they shouldn\u2019t have lost (Charlotte, Atlanta). It added up to a 2-2 trip, which isn\u2019t half-bad in today\u2019s NBA, but it gave no indication of the what type of Blazer team will finish the season and be on display when the playoffs start in about a month.<\/p>\n

One indication that things are a little off kilter is that of late Portland has become more and more dependent on the 3-pointer. \"Online<\/p>\n

After averaging fewer than 18 attempts a game all season, the Blazers fired up almost 24 a game in the four-game road swing. In the Charlotte game alone the Blazers hucked up 27 treys, which makes no sense at all because a lot of players in the league make a living out of taking the ball to the hole against Charlotte center Kwame Brown.<\/p>\n

NBA Trends:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over is 11-2 in DAL last 13 vs. Western Conference.
\nOver is 9-3 in DAL last 12 road games.
\nOver is 17-6 in DAL last 23 overall.
\nUnder is 7-3 in POR last 10 vs. NBA Southwest.
\nUnderdog is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.<\/p>\n

BEST BET: <\/em><\/strong>With three losses in their last five games, you have to wonder if the long schedule is starting to take a toll on the Mavericks. Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion and Dirk Nowitzki have a lot of miles on their legs, and just finished a stretch of five games in seven days. <\/p>\n

They have had two days to regenerate after a 96-91 loss at home to the Lakers, but Dallas just looks like a weary team that might be playing out the string and waiting for the playoffs to finally get going. <\/p>\n

Portland +1 with a long hard look at the under.<\/p>\n
