Big Ten Showdown Closes Out The Regular Season<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s ground zero in the Big Ten on Saturday at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan.<\/p>\n

These two in-state rivals have not locked up a spot in the 2011 NCAA Tournament but will have a chance to make.<\/p>\n

Michigan State\u2019s high-profile wins give the Spartans an edge over the Wolverines, but Michigan State can\u2019t say for certain that it\u2019s in the field. A win over Michigan would take a great deal of pressure off the back of MSU coach Tom Izzo, who expected to have a Final Four contender on his hands this season but has watched his players underperform on a weekly basis.<\/p>\n

Michigan might not have as good a resume as Michigan State, but the Wolverines \u2013 relative to their own abilities and talents \u2013 have meshed a lot more effectively than Michigan State has this season. Michigan won the first meeting between these schools on Michigan State\u2019s home floor. \"The<\/a><\/p>\n

The rematch at the U of M will test both teams\u2019 resilience. Can Michigan complete the sweep?<\/p>\n

Can Michigan State rebound? In an early-March pressure cooker, trust the team and the coach who have faced so many urgent situations with poise and composure in the past.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s true that Michigan State is one of the most underachieving teams in college basketball this year, but the Spartans are likely to fight with all their might in this particular game. They have turned things around somewhat after some midseason turmoil and guard Kalin Lucas has been dominant once again. Michigan will put point guard Darius Morris on Lucas, but that might be a very tough assignment given that Lucas has a significant edge in quickness in that particular matchup.<\/p>\n

Take Michigan State, because Tom Izzo usually finds a way to win the games he needs to grab.<\/p>\n
