Thursday Action Brings West Coast Closure In The Pac Ten<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some people might be tempted to think that the Arizona Wildcats are in a state of crisis.<\/p>\n

Actually, they\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

Arizona simply ran into two tough and rugged teams on the road last week and both of their opponents needed wins. USC is a formidable defensive team and a likely NIT school this season. It\u2019s not as though the Wildcats were beaten by a truly bad opponent. Then, Arizona got taken down by UCLA in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n

The Bruins, playing their final game at Pauley Pavilion before the venerable arena gets renovated, were clearly motivated by the emotions of the day and also the desire to tie the Wildcats in the Pac-10 Conference race.<\/p>\n

Arizona has not beaten world-class opponents out of conference, so the two losses in the City of Angels were not incredibly shocking\u2026 at least, they shouldn\u2019t have been viewed as profound surprises.<\/p>\n

But Arizona also knew that they had two home games left on the schedule versus Oregon schools so they were well aware that the wins would come. The Wildcats are still a perfect 15-0 at home this season and they have clearly been a better team when playing in Tucson than when playing on the road. \"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, Arizona returns home for a two-game set against the Oregon schools. Oregon State defeated the U of A in the Pacific Northwest roughly two months ago, so don\u2019t expect Arizona to get swept by the Beavers. <\/p>\n

The Wildcats have actually lost three straight games to the Beavers.<\/p>\n

But the Beavers are also a very different team when playing on the road. They are just 1-10 on the road this season and 0-7 on the road in Pac 10 play.<\/p>\n

Arizona would have to play very poorly for 40 minutes in order for that to happen. After two tough losses this week along with losses in their last three to Oregon State, they are going to be well awake for this contest.<\/p>\n

Take Arizona for a very simple reason: The Wildcats are a lot better than the Beavers.<\/p>\n
