Haynesworth accused of sexual assault<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The NFL went a little wild over the last few days. First, there\u2019s Albert Haynesworth. The Washington Redskins defensive tackle has been accused of sexually assaulting a D.C. waitress over the weekend, allegedly touching her breast while he paid his bill. One day earlier, Haynesworth had surrendered to authorities on an assault charge from a February 2 incident in which he punched another driver during a road-rage dispute.<\/p>\n

Legedu Naanee, a free-agent receiver and ex-Charger, was arrested early Saturday for public intoxication and resisting arrest. He reportedly got involved in a crime scene and was asked to leave. He resisted, gave off a \u201cstrong odor of an alcoholic beverage\u201d and used profanity toward an officer. He tried to pull away and ended up pepper sprayed while asking the officers, \u201cDo you know who I am? I\u2019m an NFL player and I\u2019m going to sue your ass.\u201d<\/p>\n

Redskins receiver Brandon Banks got into trouble of his own over the weekend. He and a friend were repeatedly stabbed by Jason Shorter at a D.C. night club during a fight. Reports suggest that Banks and his friend may have actually instigated the melee, so they could face charges. Banks is still hospitalized for precautionary reasons but should be released today. His friend, Christopher Nixon, has more serious injuries to his face and upper body.<\/p>\n

Could Kevin Kolb be the Arizona Cardinals\u2019 next starting quarterback? He reportedly told the Philadelphia Enquirer <\/em>this week that he\u2019d accept a trade to the desert. \u201cI hope that if something happens, [Arizona\u2019s] name comes up,\u201d he said. Kolb wants to start and obviously doesn\u2019t have that option in Philadelphia anymore with Pro Bowler Michael Vick taking the reins.<\/p>\n

If the NFL owners lock out the players for 2011, we may see some football players trying new sports. Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards said recently that he\u2019d become a professional boxer in the event of a lockout. He started training to switch sports last summer, cutting his body fat from 15 per cent to six per cent.<\/p>\n

NHL news: Peter Forsberg retires; Leafs trade Kris Versteeg to Flyers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peter Forsberg\u2019s comeback lasted just two games. Though he drew positive reviews for his play from his teammates, he had to cut his return short because his chronically sore foot acted up again. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In a tear-filled news conference yesterday, Foppa announced his retirement. His legacy includes a Calder Trophy as rookie of the year, a Hart Trophy as league MVP and two Stanley Cup rings.<\/p>\n

Kris Versteeg\u2019s stay in Toronto is over after less than one season. The Maple Leafs shipped the versatile forward to the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday for first and third-round draft picks. Versteeg had 35 points in 53 games for the Blue and White this season but was a minus-13.<\/p>\n

NBA news: Nuggets want three of Knicks\u2019 starters for Carmelo Anthony<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who would\u2019ve thought Raymond Felton\u2019s name wouldn\u2019t be safe after the dynamite job he\u2019s done as the New York Knicks\u2019 starting point guard this season?<\/p>\n

The Denver Nuggets are willing to send Carmelo Anthony to New York right now \u2013 but only if they receive Felton and two other Knick starters. The Nuggets want Felton, Danilo Gallinari, one more starter, Eddy Curry\u2019s expiring contract and a first-round draft pick. In return, they\u2019d send Melo and Chauncey Billups to the Big Apple. NCAA football news: Jadeveon Clowney chooses South Carolina<\/strong><\/p>\n

The country\u2019s top recruit has chosen his NCAA Div-1 school for next year. Who could resist the allure of the powerhouse SEC? Jadeveon Clowney, a 6\u20196\u201d, 245-pound defensive end, selected the South Carolina Gamecocks. He\u2019ll join a team that went 9-5 last year but lost to Auburn in the SEC title game and to Florida State in the Chick-fil-A-Bowl .<\/p>\n
