Futures for 2011-12 are already up. Last year, yours truly picked the Steelers and Packers to meet in Super Bowl XLV. Let\u2019s try to make lightning strike twice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NFL Betting \u2013 2011-12 Super Bowl Futures<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>TOP CONTENDERS<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Green Bay Packers (+745)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Pack absolutely have the horses to repeat. So many of their key players \u2013 Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Clay Matthews, Tramon Williams, B.J. Raji \u2013 are still in their 20s. All Ted Thompson\u2019s hard work in the draft paid off in 2010 and could yield another Super Bowl berth in 2011.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New England Patriots (+825)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scariest thing about the New England Patriots is that we can no longer accuse the whole team of getting old. Sure, Tom Brady is no spring chicken, but he\u2019s fresh off arguably his best season, so he has plenty left in the tank. Suddenly, the Pats\u2019 defense is young and improving. More importantly, New England has about 400 picks in this year\u2019s draft. If they can pick a gamebreaking receiver, look out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pittsburgh Steelers (+1015)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Steelers likely aren\u2019t going anywhere. They still have Ben Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu and a deep, star-studded front seven. The Steelers seem to alternate good and bad seasons but maybe they\u2019ll string two good years in a row since they were cheated out of four games from Big Ben.<\/p>\n<p><strong>San Diego Chargers (+1015)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The love affair with the Chargers never ends. But can you blame us? These poor guys missed the playoffs but led the NFL in total offense and defense. Shouldn\u2019t they get more breaks next year?<\/p>\n<h3>STOCK RISING<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dallas Cowboys (+1615)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2010 was a nightmare for the Cowboys but there are reasons for optimism next year. Tony Romo will return healthy and he has a brilliant young weapon at his disposal in Dez Bryant. The team played much better once Jason Garrett took over head coaching duties as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+4050)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think any team changed oddsmakers\u2019 perception more than Tampa Bay did this past season. Weren\u2019t the Bucs supposed to be a bottom-three franchise? Now, with a foundation that includes Josh Freeman, LeGarrette Blount, Aqib Talib, Mike Williams and Gerald McCoy, they could challenge for the NFC South title next year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kansas City Chiefs (+4050)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After winning the AFC West, the Chiefs will be a much more popular pick next season, but could they be fool\u2019s gold? Matt Cassel and company had one of the easiest passing schedules in league history. Could K.C. crash back to Earth?<\/p>\n<h3>STOCK FALLING<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Indianapolis Colts (+1415)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How strange is it to see Indy in this category? But Peyton Manning looked vulnerable for the first time since his rookie season in 2010. Core players on both sides of the ball are aging for the Colts. Will it be Joe Webb getting the reins? We can\u2019t count on the Vikes to contend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chicago Bears (+3050)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of us saw them as pretenders last season yet they made the NFC Championship game. Still \u2013 Jay Cutler lacks a go-to receiver and several of the Bears\u2019 key players on \u201cD\u201d are aging. Most of us will label the Bears pretenders again next year.
