A lot can change in a short amount of time in the NBA. Would we have seen the Knicks as four-point underdogs at Philadelphia a month ago? I doubt it.<\/p>\n

But the New York hype train has derailed. The Knicks are just 3-8 over their last 11 games. Amar\u2019e Stoudemire continues to put major points on the board, averaging better than 26 per game, but Raymond Felton seems to be cooling off slightly.<\/p>\n

The real problem, however, is a staple of any Mike D\u2019Antoni-coached team: defensive struggles. The Knicks are second in the NBA in offense, averaging 106.5 points per game. But they\u2019re 27th<\/sup> in \u201cD,\u201d allowing 106.2 points per game. The average score of a Knicks game is 106-106. No wonder they\u2019re back hovering around the .500 mark.<\/p>\n

They face a reasonable challenge in Philly tonight. The 76ers are 15-8 at home and are 5-1 over their last six games. They beat some bottom feeders like the Raptors and Nets over that span but they also took down Denver, Phoenix and Memphis, three of the league\u2019s hottest teams, and beat the suddenly struggling Jazz. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

No one stands out on the 76ers; Elton Brand leads the team with just 14.9 points per game. But they\u2019re playing well as a team, with five guys scoring 11 or more points per game, and they\u2019ve been solid defensively.<\/p>\n

The 76ers have also been betting gold this season. They\u2019re 31-16-1 against the spread and are an outstanding 7-1 ATS over their last eight games. They seem like a solid bet tonight.<\/p>\n

I wouldn\u2019t trust the Knicks until they prove their slump is over. They seem to have lost focus. They were hot but the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors may have put stars in their eyes. They forgot that Melo still isn\u2019t on their team and that they still have to win games. Go with the streaking home team tonight.<\/p>\n
