The San Antonio Spurs still have the best record in the NBA. The Spurs have become a much more dangerous team on offensive this year, and they have certainly surprised the experts. The Utah Jazz started the season strong, but they have been on a vicious downward slide over the last couple weeks. Utah generally is nearly unbeatable at home, but they are just 15-7 at home so far this year. The Jazz need a big win to get the momentum going again, and this is a big opportunity for them.<\/p>\n

San Antonio is averaging more points per game this year than they have in any year since Tim Duncan was drafted. The Spurs have been extremely successful over the years, but they have generally been a team that slows the tempo down. This year they are averaging 104.1 points per game, which is fifth in the NBA. Duncan is slowing down a bit now at the age of 34, but he is still a tremendous power forward who does everything well. Manu Ginobili is having arguably the best year of his career. <\/p>\n

Ginobili creates offense for this team and he is also adept at getting to the free throw line. Tony Parker battled injury problems earlier this year, but he is playing great basketball of late. Parker is shooting 52% from the floor, and he is averaging seven assists per game, which is the highest mark of his career. Richard Jefferson has been a pleasant surprise this year, and he gives them another solid option on offense. The Spurs defense has slipped a notch, especially in guarding beyond the three-point line. \"Sports<\/p>\n

Opponents are knocking down 40% of their three-point shots. The improved depth of this team is one of the biggest reasons why they are a real contender to win it all this year.<\/p>\n

The Utah Jazz have been stumbling pretty badly of late. Losses at Washington and New Jersey on their recent road trip were very disappointing. After this game with the Spurs their schedule gets easier, but this is definitely an opportunity for them to prove they can still beat the best in the NBA. Earlier this year they beat the Heat in Miami in what was a real signature win for this team. <\/p>\n

Deron Williams is still the clear leader for this Utah team. Williams has had to take on a little more of scoring load this year with Carlos Boozer gone, but be he continues to play at a very high level. Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson are a very nice duo down low. Millsap is having a breakout season and he is shooting 53.6% from the floor. <\/p>\n

Jefferson took a little bit of time to get used to the system in Utah, but he is contributing quite well over the last few weeks. What\u2019s been the major problem for Utah this year? The team has been inconsistent on the defensive end, and they get outrebounded on a consistent basis.<\/p>\n
