American Football Conference (20-20 Pro Bowl record)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The AFC roster for this year\u2019s Pro Bowl is a good example of why it\u2019s so darned tough to predict the Pro Bowl. For one \u2013 Tom Brady was the leading vote getter for either team but won\u2019t play. It throws you for a loop when the top guy steps down to have foot surgery. Matt Cassel will take his place. And will Maurice Jones-Drew see much action? He played through a knee injury all year.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, it wouldn\u2019t be a huge surprise to see Cassel make a big impact. That\u2019s who I like to focus on in the Pro Bowl: the happy-to-be-there guys who will appreciate the experience. I could definitely see Cassel and teammates Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles make the biggest impact of any AFC players. Same goes for Arian Foster. Last year, first-time Pro Bowler Matt Schaub was the game\u2019s MVP. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

National Football Conference (20-20 Pro Bowl record)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two words: Michael Vick. If anyone fits the mold of Pro Bowler who will appreciate his time in Hawaii, it has to be him. Quite the contrast between Aloha Stadium and prison. Vick makes for a serious candidate to dominate the Pro Bowl. Since the game notoriously lacks physicality, I have to think he\u2019ll run wild in this game. He and Calvin Johnson could make pure magic together.<\/p>\n

The NFC also has a lot of creaky vets, however. Michael Turner, Steven Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Jason Witten and Tony Gonzalez have major tread on their tires. Since Turner, Jackson and Peterson are all power runners who seek contact, they may not make as significant an impact as the AFC guys will.<\/p>\n

The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n

First things first: let\u2019s acknowledge that this game is literally a coin flip. The all-time series over 40 years is 50\/50. We also don\u2019t truly know who will play more than others and who will opt out of the game at the last minute.<\/p>\n

But, relying on the information we have to date, I like the AFC to win this game. The NFC will have perhaps the two most dynamic offensive players on the field in Vick and Johnson but the AFC has more guys who can take advantage of the extra space available in the low-contact atmosphere. Look for Foster and the Kansas City trio to be the difference in\u00a0 a close, high-scoring affair.<\/p>\n
