For the second straight year, the Jets have used their defensive prowess, plus just enough offense from a mistake-free Mark Sanchez, to win two playoff games on the road and reach the AFC Championship Game against a proven opponent.<\/p>\n

New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers<\/h3>\n

Last year, the Jets won at Cincinnati but then took out a San Diego Charger team that was viewed as a strong Super Bowl contender. This year, the Jets beat the injury-ravaged Colts in the first round but were a decided underdog to the 14-2 New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Few people expected the Jets to rebound from a 45-3 drubbing suffered at the hands of the Patriots over a month earlier. Yet, New York turned around that 42-point loss and scored a 28-21 win that rocked the football world. Now, the Jets arrive at their waterloo: The AFC title tilt, which they\u2019ve won only once in their history, in January of 1969.<\/p>\n

The Jets lost the AFC title game at Miami in 1983, then at Denver in 1999, and at Indianapolis last year. Can they break through against the proven Pittsburgh Steelers, owners of six Super Bowl titles and two in the previous five seasons? It\u2019s a toss-up. Ben Roethlisberger was shaky against Baltimore but delivered clutch throws during a bold second-half comeback.<\/p>\n

The Jets scored a 22-17 win in Pittsburgh in December and can compete on a physical level with the Steelers. However, Sanchez will find tough sledding versus Pittsburgh\u2019s rugged defense. The Steelers will probably win this game, but the Jets should be able to keep the margin within a field goal. The NFC Championship Game is not as much of a mystery as the AFC game. Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler threw a number of really bad passes in the first quarter of the Bears\u2019 NFC Divisional Playoff contest against the Seattle Seahawks, but Seattle cornerback Jordan Babineaux misread one ball and dropped the other, which would have been a 100-yard pick-six.<\/p>\n

Cutler can\u2019t make any mistakes against the Packers, a team that was the NFC co-favorite (with Minnesota) before the season started and has finally begun to play like it. Green Bay is peaking at the right time, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is by far the best player remaining in these playoffs.<\/p>\n

Unless Chicago can rough up Rodgers and register a number of sacks, deflections and hurries, the Packers should storm to victory in a classic cold-weather matchup. Pick: Green Bay +3.5<\/strong><\/p>\n
