Cincinnati Bearcats vs.\u00a0Syracuse Orange | Free Pick (January 15)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bearcats are a surprising 16-1 this season but it appears as if coach Mick Cronin might have been scheduling to keep his job as opposed to Cincinnati becoming a real teams to be reckoned with. \u00a0They are playing very solid defense (4th in the nation in points allowed) but there best wins are only beatdowns of Atlantic Ten contenders Dayton and Xavier.<\/p>\n

In their lone game against a ranked team they lost at Villanova by 11 points. \u00a0They are in tough on the road again against Syracuse.<\/p>\n

To win they are going to have to rely on that stingy defense and hope that scorers Yancy Gates and Cashmere Wright are able to solve the Orange’s matchup zone. \u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Without Lance Stepheson and Deonta Vaughn they are lacking good one-on-one talent but this squad is definitely playing like a team. \u00a0With the quality of teams in the conference we will learn soon enough whether they are a legit team or a pretender. \u00a0Bearcats fans might be disappointed.<\/p>\n

Syracuse is among a select group of teams yet to be beaten this year. \u00a0They knocked St. Johns down a peg on the road earlier in the week and this game could serve as a bit of a letdown knowing that they have a contest at Pitt on Monday I am confident will be on national TV. \u00a0Even still I don’t see the Orange losing at home to this Cincinnati team.<\/p>\n

They are also very stingy on defense but have an offense that can outscore most teams as well. \u00a0Rick Jackson has been a beast this season and the guard combo of Scoop Jardine and Brandon Triche is playing very well right now.<\/p>\n

If coach Jim Boeheim can coax anything out of highly touted frosh Fab Melo this team just might have what it takes to go very far in March.<\/p>\n

The Orange will win this one but they have been helping out the ‘books big time with their 6-9 ATS record. \u00a0Many of their games are much closer than expected, this could easily be another one.<\/p>\n
