The Wednesday college hoops card is a big one, but the best matchup on tap is in Las Vegas. Both teams started the season ranked, but now only BYU is ranked in the top 25. A win here would almost certainly put UNLV back in the polls. These two teams are part of a very strong Mountain West Conference. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

BYU is led by Jimmer Fredette, who can score points in bunches better than just about anyone else in the country. Fredette is averaging 24.1 points per game this season, and he shoots 89% from the free throw line. BYU takes great care of the basketball on offense, and they also get a lot of easy looks down low. The defense is pretty good as well, and they rarely allow their opponent to get a second chance opportunity.<\/p>\n

UNLV has five players averaging 9.2 points per game or more this year. The Runnin\u2019 Rebels offense always gets plenty of attention, but it really is their defense that has won them a lot of games. UNLV does a lot of trapping and they force more turnovers than almost anyone in the nation. UNLV has played several top teams already this year, so they are probably a little more battle-tested than BYU right now.<\/p>\n

This should be a great game, but I give the edge to UNLV. BYU is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games at UNLV. Having said that, I like the over the best in this game, as both teams push the pace and shoot free throws well. <\/p>\n
