Tulsa<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tulsa put together their 9-3 record very quietly this season.\u00a0 They opened the season with a very entertaining loss to East Carolina which set them back in the Conference USA but since the opener they have only two blemishes, losses to Oklahoma State and SMU.\u00a0 They enter the bowl game on a 6 game winning streak including road upset victories over Houston and Notre Dame.\u00a0 Not a bad season for the third best team in the state of Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

As usual Tulsa is getting it done by putting a lot of points on the board.\u00a0 They are 10th in the nation averaging just under 40ppg.\u00a0 This year they are getting it done with better balance though.\u00a0 Tulsa is ranked 14th in the nation is rush offense and 16th in passing.\u00a0 This makes them much harder to defend, as does the fact that QB G.J. Kinne is a threat to bomb away or tuck and run on any play.<\/p>\n

These two teams have some history as former conference mates in the WAC but haven\u2019t met since 2004 so it is not all that relevant.\u00a0 The key for the Golden Hurricane to pull off the upset will be how their defense performs.\u00a0 They are used to seeing pass happy teams in Conference USA but haven\u2019t had a ton of success slowing them down.\u00a0 They are second worst in the country in passing yards allowed. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Hawaii<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another strong season for the Rainbow Warriors on the Island.\u00a0 Their pass happy attack generated 10 wins including tagging Nevada with their only loss of the season.\u00a0 The only head scratcher was an embarrasing road loss to Colorado.\u00a0 Hawaii is one of three teams playing bowls in their home stadium, where they are 6-1 SU and a perfect 7-0 ATS this season.\u00a0 Christmas eve in Hawaii sounds pretty good!<\/p>\n

Hawaii is the number one passing team in the nation averaging 387 yards through the air per game.\u00a0 With that kind of success don\u2019t be fooled into thinking that they can\u2019t run the ball.\u00a0 Senior running back Alex Green has really emerged.\u00a0 He has over 1100 yards and is averaging a staggering 8.8 yards per carry with 17 TDs.\u00a0 Bryant Moniz to Greg Salas is a prolific combo but this team has plenty of weapons.<\/p>\n

The Rainbows are the leading moneymakers from the regular season with their spectacular 11-2 ATS record.\u00a0 As mentioned they were perfect against the number at home but I am surprised to see them installed as double digit favourites given their own defensive shortcomings while facing an opponent that can put up numbers on pretty much anybody.\u00a0 That number might be right though, Hawaii is a perfect 7-0 ATS as a favourite this season as well.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>I like Hawaii to win on their home turf in a barn burner.\u00a0 However, I think this one will be closer than the oddsmakers say.<\/p>\n
