The 2010 NFC East Division title is on the line this Sunday afternoon when the Philadelphia Eagles take the Jersey Turnpike to the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford for a showdown with the New York Giants. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on Fox.<\/p>\n

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid after he decided to jettison longtime Eagle quarterback Donovan McNabb in favor of the much younger Kevin Kolb, but the reemergence of Michael Vick as one of the top QB\u2019s in the league has his team on the brink of its first division title since 2006.<\/p>\n

The Eagles come into this game tied with New York for first place in the East with an overall record of 9-4 straight-up (6-7 against the spread) and are 3-1 in the division including an earlier 27-17 win over the Giants. They have the No.1 ranked offense in the league as far as total yards per game and are second in scoring; averaging 28.8 points per game.<\/p>\n

There is little doubt about the explosiveness of this team with players like Vick, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and LeSean McCoy, but there is genuine cause for concern in this game on the defensive side of the ball. Philadelphia is currently ranked 12th<\/sup> overall, but lost MLB Stuart Bradley and DE Brandon Graham in last week\u2019s win over Dallas, making it far more susceptible to New York\u2019s power running game. The Eagles game plan in this one will be to score early and often to force the Giants to play from behind. \"NFL<\/a><\/p>\n

New York comes into this game with three straight wins where it outscored its opponents 76-30. The Giants (9-4 SU and 7-6 ATS) realize that a loss in this game will not only put a serious dent in their chances to win the East, but to even make the playoffs in a very competitive conference.<\/p>\n

The Giants, on paper, appear to be the better balanced and more overall talented team in this matchup with the fourth ranked offense and second ranked defense in the league. The one area that has plagued them all season long has been costly turnovers.<\/p>\n

They currently have a turnover ratio of -2, which rank them 17th<\/sup> in the league, while Philadelphia leads the NFC at +15 and is second in the league to New England. QB Eli Manning has had the propensity to turn the ball over against this team in the past and will have to do a much better job taking care of the ball this week against the Eagles\u2019 ball-hawking defense.<\/p>\n

Trends<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Philadelphia is 2-3 ATS in its last five road games and 3-2 ATS in its last five games overall. The total has gone \u2018over\u2019\u00a0in eight of its last nine games.
\nNew York is 1-3 ATS in its last four games at home and 2-3 ATS in its last five games overall. The total line has stayed \u2018under\u2019\u00a0in three of its last four games.<\/p>\n

Head-to-head, the Eagles have won the last five games both SU and ATS. The Giants won the previous three games both SU and ATS as this division rivalry has been extremely streaky over the past several years. The total has stayed \u2018under\u2019\u00a0in three of the last five meetings.<\/p>\n

New York should be able to control the clock and the line of scrimmage behind a powerful rushing attack led by Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs, but it still will not be enough to score more points than the Eagles\u2019\u00a0quick-strike offense. Look for Vick to play one of his best games of the season in a huge Philly win.<\/p>\n
