New England<\/strong><\/p>\n

After dismantling the New York Jets the Patriots are alone at the top of the AFC for the time being.\u00a0 If they want to stay there they will have to win this week in what should be the toughest remaining game on their schedule.\u00a0 They are on a 4 game winning streak and last week demonstrated just how dominant they can be.<\/p>\n

Since Tom Brady became a star the Patriots have been one of the most balanced teams in the league.\u00a0 In any given game they could bury you with offense or stomp on you with their defense.\u00a0 This year things are much different.\u00a0 The Pats are first in scoring at 31ppg but they are 31st in yards allowed.\u00a0 Their scoring defense is better at 18th (22ppg) but their performance against the Jets may be an indicator that they are getting things straightened out on that side of the ball. If so look out. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Pats only two losses of the season have been on the road so if Chicago backers want to point to anything perhaps that is it.\u00a0 New England is 4-2 ATS on the road as well so basically when they win they cover and when they don\u2019t they don\u2019t.\u00a0\u00a0 With the spread at -3 that will probably be the case in this one as well.<\/p>\n

Chicago<\/strong><\/p>\n

No matter how much I think they won\u2019t the Bears just keep on winning.\u00a0 They have won five in a row since their bye week and currently sit second in the conference behind Atlanta.\u00a0 They have the toughest final four games of just about any team starting with hosting New England this week, visits to Green Bay and Minnesota and a home date with the Jets.\u00a0 They are looking strong to make the playoffs but they need to keep playing well down the stretch.<\/p>\n

Speaking of playing well Jay Cutler has been very good the past two weeks posting passer ratings over 100 the past two weeks.\u00a0 When he doesn\u2019t turn the ball over and is patient he can be very good and the way the defense has been playing he doesn\u2019t have to do toomuch.\u00a0 This week there is going to be more pressure as the Pats are unlikely to be held below the 20ppg the Bears have been averaging this season.<\/p>\n

Even though the Bears are surprising with their 9-3 record they are not making \u201cinvestors\u201d much money with with their poor 6-5-1 ATS record.\u00a0 However, they have been a good bet when they are short dogs like they are this week.\u00a0 The Bears are 4-0 ATS as an underdog of three or less points this season.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>I was very surprised to see the spread so small for the Pats this week.\u00a0 At only -3 I don\u2019t see how you can not back a team which is playing like the best in the NFL<\/p>\n
