Even with Chris Stewart out due to a broken hand, the Avs\u2019 offense hasn\u2019t missed a beat. Milan Hejduk has turned back the clock, notching 30 points in 27 games. John-Michael Liles is having a career year on the back end and Matt Duchene, not surprisingly, is blossoming into a point-per-game player. The rookie defenseman is playing 20 minutes a night and has 14 points in 16 games.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the good news. The bad news is that the Avs have sacrificed a lot of defense for offense. They allow well over three goals per game, they\u2019ve gotten shaky goaltending from Craig Anderson and Peter Budaj, and they\u2019ve lost four straight games.<\/p>\n<p>Their first loss in that skid came at home to the same team they face on the road Friday night: the Atlanta Thrashers.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Pittsburgh, there isn\u2019t a hotter team in the NHL than Atlanta right now. The Thrashers have won eight of their last nine. On the strength of stellar goaltending from Ondrej Pavelec, they\u2019ve allowed two goals or fewer in all of those wins.
