Week 12 treated us to more amazingly close games – and one wild on-field incident.

NEED MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SELECTIONS? OUR CAPPERS HAVE YOUR BACK —–>

NFL Betting: Week 12 Roundup

Patriots 45, Lions 23

OK – so the Thanksgiving matchups weren’t all close. But the Patriots and Lions still played an entertaining game. We should expect to see more of the same from New England going forward: Tom Brady and the offense rolling along, the defense looking very suspect.

Saints 30, Cowboys 27

Against a resurgent Dallas team playing at home with a new coach, the Saints did a pretty good job here. Sure, they blew a 17-0 lead, but Drew Brees looked like his vintage self taking New Orleans downfield late in the fourth quarter.

New York Jets 26, Bengals 10

The Bengals shed the Bungles label for a season but are working very hard to wrestle it back from Houston this year. Rumor has it that Chad Ochocinco, Marvin Lewis, Terrell Owens, Cedric Benson and the whole circus are leaving town this offseason. That certainly seems to be the case if their Thanksgiving stink bomb is any indication.

Falcons 20, Packers 17

It sure would help if the Packers had a bellcow back to spell Aaron Rodgers and the passing game once in a while. It would also help if Green Bay stopped shooting itself in the foot and handing opponents great field position because of penalties. Yesterday’s game was decided more by a facemask than a field goal.

Texans 20, Titans 0

This was the week’s ugliest game – not just because of the scoreboard but also because of Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan’s fistfight. Is Jeff Fisher going to leave this smoking mess behind once and for all this offseason? He deserves better.

Vikings 17, Redskins 13

Seeing Brett Favre win a game with a scramble was a weird story, but the most significant story of the day was Adrian Peterson’s ankle injury. He was in considerable pain after the game and will be re-evaluated today.

Giants 24, Jaguars 20

Give Jacksonville credit for hanging in this game longer than anyone expected. The Giants running game was in classic form yesterday, splitting carries more evenly between Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs to great effect.

Steelers 19, Bills 16

The Steelers sure got a gift on this one. Whether or not it was “God’s fault,” Steve Johnson’s drop in overtime was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. My dog could’ve caught that.

Browns 24, Panthers 23

Finally, the cardiac-kid Browns are on the right end of a tight game. Peyton Hillis gashed the panthers for 131 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns. The man is Pro Bowl-bound. An interesting subplot to this game: Jonathan Stewart averaging 8.2 yards per carry. Is the Daily Show back?

Chiefs 42, Seahawks 24

The Matt Cassel-to-Dwayne Bowe connection is making Montana-to-Rice look pedestrian of late. They’ve hooked up for 32 completions and seven touchdowns over the last three games (including three against Seattle). Absolutely absurd.

Dolphins 33, Raiders 17

Though the Raiders’ resurgence has been a nice story, this loss reminds us that they’re still a very incomplete football team. They need to be leading, running the ball, in the driver’s seat. They don’t have the passing game to play catchup.

Bears 31, Eagles 26

Didn’t see this one coming. Jay Cutler throwing four touchdown passes and no interceptions against the Eagles? I guess the injuries in Philly’s secondary impacted this game.

Ravens 17, Buccaneers 10

Tampa didn’t win but it proved a point by staying close at Baltimore (and covering the spread). The Bucs still look for real to me. Obviously, so do the Ravens. But what’s with Anquan Boldin’s disappearance?

Rams 36, Broncos 33

The Rams almost blew this one with poor coaching. Sam Bradford was unstoppable all day but St. Louis kept force-feeding the ball to an ineffective Steven Jackson. As for Kyle Orton – ever notice that his numbers always look great but, if you watch him play, he looks terrible?

Chargers 36, Colts 14

One pick-six from Peyton Manning is hard to believe. But two!? I’m at an absolute loss. The Chargers seem to be in Peyton Manning’s head. Suddenly, if Indy’s injured guys don’t return in a hurry, we could see the Colts out of the playoffs for the first time since the Industrial Revolution.

The NFL odds are up on which teams will win the NFL in the 2010/2011 season!
