(21) North Carolina State Wolfpack (8-3)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Say what you want about N.C. State \u2013 underrated, overrated, whatever \u2013 but the Wolfpack are one win away from a berth in the ACC title game. They\u2019ve quietly fielded the 17th<\/sup>-best passing offense in the country, averaging 279.2 yards per game with Russell Wilson at the controls. He has 24 passing touchdowns versus 13 picks and has run for seven more scores. He\u2019s undoubtedly what makes the offense go.<\/p>\n

N.C. State is a respectable 31st<\/sup> in the nation in total defense but is far more effective stopping the run (21st<\/sup>) than the pass (54th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n

Maryland Terrapins (7-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maryland just isn\u2019t quite good enough to be taken completely seriously but it can still hold its head high this season. The Terps have gone 5-1 at home this season and they\u2019ve gotten a pretty admirable effort from quarterback Danny O\u2019Brien, who has 1,840 passing yards, 17 touchdown tosses and six interceptions. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

Maryland has bowled over pretty much every inferior opponent in its way this season. The problem is that the Terps get outclassed every time they face legitimate opponents. They lost 30-16 at home to Florida State last week. Miami, Clemson and West Virginia beat them, too. If you consider N.C. State the real deal, you can\u2019t like Maryland\u2019s chances this week.<\/p>\n

The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of those four opponents to beat Maryland, three of them did so by scoring more than 30 points. The Terrapins defense isn\u2019t horrible, ranking 40th<\/sup> overall and allowing 21.5 points per game, but it hasn\u2019t risen to the occasion against more potent offenses.<\/p>\n

At 91st<\/sup> in total offense, the Terps aren\u2019t really built to fight back in a shootout, either. Look for Wilson to help N.C. State grab and early lead and never look back in this one. It may not be a blowout but I don\u2019t see Maryland really making this game close, either. It\u2019s also worth noting that N.C. State has been a great team to bet on this year, going 9-2 against the spread.<\/p>\n
