South Florida Bulls (6-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Riding the country\u2019s 103rd<\/sup>-ranked offense, South Florida won three straight games by three points or fewer heading into last week\u2019s showdown with Pittsburgh. But its luck finally ran out against the Panthers. South Florida limited Pitt to 292 yards but couldn\u2019t move the ball itself, totalling just 285 yards. B.J. Daniels, still a work in progress, threw for only 132 yards despite completing 15 passes. He still has more interceptions (12) than touchdowns on the season.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s almost a given that South Florida will struggle to score on Miami. So the Bulls have to hope their \u201cD\u201d comes to play. It\u2019s the 25th<\/sup>-rankeed unit in the nation and equally effective against the pass (32nd<\/sup>) and the run (31st<\/sup>). [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

Miami Hurricanes (7-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maybe I spoke too soon about Jacory Harris\u2019 job security being in question. Last week against Virginia Tech, backup quarterback Stephen Morris played more like, well, a backup. He completed just 15 of 33 passes for 202 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes are optimistic that Harris (concussion) will return this Saturday against South Florida. He threw two touchdown passes against the Bulls in a 31-10 win almost a year ago to the day. Harris wasn\u2019t perfect this season before getting hurt, tossing 14 touchdown passes with 11 picks, but he can still be competent in a game manager role at worst. The Hurricanes are still a top-25 rushing team in the country and Damien Berry, back healthy, can shoulder the load.<\/p>\n

The pick: <\/strong><\/p>\n

I like Miami to cover the 11.5 points. It\u2019s not that I think Harris and the \u2019Canes will light up a defensively competent team like South Florida; it\u2019s just that I don\u2019t see the Bulls\u2019 popgun offense doing any damage on the road against The U, which has the 20th<\/sup>-best defense in the nation. If South Florida falls behind and has to pass, it\u2019ll be doing so against the third-best pass defense in the country. Miami allows just 145.2 passing yards per game.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t expect a particularly pretty affair but expect a Miami win.<\/p>\n
