No. 1 Oregon is coming off its worst performance of the season as Cal held the Eugene Machine to just seven offensive points. Meanwhile, the No. 21 Wildcats has lost its last two games and is struggling to keep its bowl hopes alive. If the Ducks can get by Arizona, they will be one game closer to playing for its first-ever national title while the \u2018Cats have the chance of finishing with its best season record in 12 years.<\/p>\n

However, trying to stop the Duck\u2019s hurry-up spread scheme will likely still be a dauntless task even for a very good Arizona defense. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Ducks\u2019 QB Darron Thomas drives the offensive machine beating opponents through the air and on the ground. If Thomas is on, hitting his passing targets, teams are usually in for a ride. If that\u2019s not enough to scare the opposition\u2019s defense, tailback LaMichael James is. The Heisman contender leads the nation in rushing and has 17 TDs.\u00a0 Receiver Jeff Maehl has great hands and has snagged 11 TDs so far this season.<\/p>\n

Defensively, the Ducks are darn near as good, but haven\u2019t really been tested because the offense usually shoulders the load. However, they did show their toughness against Cal. The defense may ben, but it\u2019s yet to break and is among the best in\u00a0the country when it comes to holding its own inside the red zone. The Ducks like to mix in a barrage of blitzes that incorporate speed off the corners, surprising unsuspecting quarterbacks.<\/p>\n

That will include Arizona QB Nick Foles who has been highly accurate in the Wildcats\u2019 variation of the\u00a0Texas Tech\u00a0spread passing attack.\u00a0He is a huge reason Arizona puts up a conference-leading\u00a0300 yards per game through the air.\u00a0His favorite target is WR Juron Criner, who might be the best receiver in the Pac-10 with 982 yards and six TDs. On the ground the \u2018Cats are led by Keola\u00a0Antonin, who has been Arizona\u2019s beast of burden since Nic Grisby was lost to injury. Antonin is not as speedy as Grisby, but does have the wheels to pick up a ton of real estate, averaging over five yards per carry.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats have a fierce defensive line led by ends Ricky Elmore and Brooks Reed, and a solid\u00a0group of linebackers led\u00a0by Paul Vassallo.\u00a0The one weakness is in the secondary, which has a ton of inexperienced talent.\u00a0This may be the point of attack for Oregon\u2019s Thomas to wreck havoc.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats have struggled as of late and even though the Eugene Machine misfired against Cal, it\u2019s a different team when playing at Autzen.\u00a0 A 20-point spread seems a bit much, but the 62-point total seems doable considering Oregon averages 61 points per game at home. Expect the Ducks to roll over the Wildcats in this one.<\/p>\n
