Temple<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Owls have to be disappointed after last week\u2019s loss to Ohio.\u00a0 I am no MAC tiebreaker expert but I am pretty sure it eliminated them from the picture in the East Division and the best they can do this week is do the same thing to Miami.\u00a0 They can also grab their ninth victory of the season, which for a program with Temple\u2019s history is pretty good.\u00a0 Another bowl game awaits them for sure.<\/p>\n

Temple lost last week because their ground game deserted them.\u00a0 Bernard Pierce was hurt (he is questionable for this week) and Matt Brown, who is also dealing with injury, wasn\u2019t very effective.\u00a0 The Owls showed that they can pass the ball as they scrambled to catch up at the end of the contest but it is hard to trust the numbers when teams go into their prevent defense.\u00a0 QB Mike Gerardi is average at best.<\/p>\n

Temple has won the last three against the Redhawks, barely escaping last year even though the Owls were quite good and Miami was not.\u00a0 The Owls has been playing well this year and own a 7-4 ATS record including 5-2 in the MAC.\u00a0 They are also a perfect 3-0 ATS when they are a short favourite of – 6.5 points or fewer.\u00a0 They are the better team in this contest as Miami is still a bit of an unknown quantity, even this late in the season. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Miami (Ohio)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even though the Redhawks are 7-4 with just a single loss in the MAC they are still a tough team to get a read on.\u00a0 Maybe that is because their most impressive game might have been an opening loss to Florida and nobody is sure what to make of the Gators either.\u00a0 These guys might be alright but it is more likely that they are the beneficiary of a down year in the conference and some \u201cgood\u201d scheduling.<\/p>\n

The Redhawks have proven to be a pretty good defensive team this season.\u00a0 They showed that in that opener against the Gators and have been able to keep it up against their competition in the MAC, except for Ohio.\u00a0 Facing off against the Owls they should feel comfortable knowing this unit can keep them in the game as Temple is a bit hobbled and not one of the more explosive teams when their defense doesn\u2019t turn you over.<\/p>\n

Temple is a fundamentally sound team so in the end Miami is going to have to win it…by that I mean scoring some points because the Temple defense is very good.\u00a0 The Redhawks are on a 3 game win streak but they haven\u2019t scored more than 24 points in any of those contests.\u00a0 Unless Temple is completely deflated after last week\u2019s loss than Zac Dysert will have to lead Miami to victory by impressing somewhat.\u00a0 I am not sure he is capable.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>Al Golden is very well respected as a coach so I assume Temple will answer the bell this week and down Ohio in relatively convincing fashion.<\/p>\n
