2010 NBA Hoops Power Ratings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each week during the heart of the NBA season, and once or twice during the NBA Preseason, we\u2019ll gather the troops around the roundtable and hash out the\u00a0NBA Power rankings<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

We check out the stats, looks at the records, and, most importantly, we take a close, close look at the heart of each team. We encourage you to come back each week and see how the nba Power Rankings have changed. <\/p>\n

NBA Power Rankings: November 22<\/strong><\/p>\n

No Miami at the top of our first NBA power rankings of the season? Who could\u2019ve predicted this?<\/p>\n

1. San Antonio Spurs (11-1): <\/strong>The Spurs\u2019 winning streak hits 10 games. Like the Detroit Red Wings and Indianapolis Colts, this team just never stops winning. Eleven different Spurs average six or more points per game. How\u2019s that for teamwork?<\/p>\n

2. Los Angeles Lakers (12-2): <\/strong>Pau Gasol for MVP? He\u2019s averaging 22.8 points, 12.1 boards and 1.7 blocks per game. Between him and Kobe, the Lakers aren\u2019t going anywhere in the hunt for a three-peat.<\/p>\n

3. New Orleans Hornets (11-1): <\/strong>As long as the Hornets keep playing like this, we can forget about the Chris Paul trade rumors.<\/p>\n

4. Orlando Magic (9-3): <\/strong>The forgotten team among the Eastern Conference powerhouses, Orlando still has plenty going for it. Dwight Howard is the league\u2019s standard for defense and this team can still shoot the lights out from long range.<\/p>\n

5. Oklahoma City (9-4): <\/strong>Make it four straight wins for MVP frontrunner Kevin Durant and the Thunder. We all knew Durant would be all-world again but Russell Westbrook\u2019s jump from 16.1 to 23.5 points per game has been a revelation.<\/p>\n

6. Boston Celtics (9-4): <\/strong>The Celtics would\u2019ve been a top-three team on this list a week ago but deserve a slap on the wrist after getting caught napping against the Raptors on Sunday. I still like Rajon Rondo as an MVP sleeper, though.<\/p>\n

7. Utah Jazz (9-5): <\/strong>Continuing the theme of secondary scorers stepping up to help stars, what\u2019s with Paul Millsap? He\u2019s averaging about double his career scoring average right now and right up there with Deron Williams\u2019 nightly contributions.<\/p>\n

8. Miami Heat (8-5): <\/strong>Still waiting for the chemistry to form. I\u2019m sure the Heat will click and win 15 straight games at some point but injuries to key supporting players like Udonis Haslem give them little margin for error if one of the Big Three gets hurt. Dwyane Wade is already a bit hobbled.<\/p>\n

9. Dallas Mavericks (8-4): <\/strong>It has to be a weird feeling being a Mavericks fan. You like your team, you know you have a stolid starting five, you know Dirk Nowitzki can still carry you most nights, but your boys simply aren\u2019t going to win a championship. It\u2019s the same thing every year.<\/p>\n

10. Chicago Bulls (7-4): <\/strong>The Bulls were just hoping to tread water until Carlos Boozer returned, so winning seven of their first 11 and staking out a two-game division lead are gravy.<\/p>\n

11. Portland Trail Blazers (8-6): <\/strong>Few teams have as much boom\/bust potential in the power rankings as Portland does. Greg Oden is gone again and, if Brandon Roy\u2019s knee keeps him out for much longer, a losing streak has to be on the horizon.<\/p>\n

12. Atlanta Hawks (8-5): <\/strong>Their blazing start to the season is a distant memory now. The Hawks are back to being the fairly competitive but unspectacular team they were supposed to be all along.<\/p>\n

13. Denver (7-6): <\/strong>Don\u2019t you get the sense that this season really means nothing in Denver? They aren\u2019t good enough to win a title and Carmelo\u2019s days are numbered, so the Nuggets are just playing out the string. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

14. Golden State Warriors (7-6): <\/strong>With four guys averaging 14-plus points per game, the Warriors are an exciting group. But can they really need David Lee back soon.<\/p>\n

15. New York Knicks (6-8): <\/strong>A sub-.500 team in the top half of the power rankings is absolutely unheard of in the NBA. But the dominant starts by a few select teams have given the Association strange parity in the lower ranks. The Knicks are totally in the playoff hunt.<\/p>\n

16. Toronto Raptors (5-9): <\/strong>I don\u2019t buy the Raps\u2019 three-game surge as much as I buy New York\u2019s. There\u2019s a dearth of talent on this team and it\u2019ll be reflected in the standings soon enough.<\/p>\n

17. Phoenix Suns (6-7): <\/strong>Sooner or later, will Phoenix learn how to play defense? At least the Suns lose in entertaining fashion. And Steve Nash has upped his trade valu- uh, played great.<\/p>\n

18.\u00a0 Milwaukee Bucks (5-8): <\/strong>Given the strides they made last year and the depth they have, the 5-8 start from the Bucks surprises me. But Brandon Jennings needs more help. Too many supposed scoring threats (read: Maggette, Corey) are underachieving.<\/p>\n

19. Indiana Pacers (5-6): <\/strong>If Roy Hibbert can continue growing into an elite big man, the Pacers have a good shot to reach the postseason. He\u2019s really breaking out so far, averaging 16.7 points, 10 boards and 2.6 blocks through 11 games.<\/p>\n

20. Charlotte Bobcats (5-8): <\/strong>With Larry Brown leading the way, we can\u2019t count a Bobcat turnaround out just yet. Charlotte has to be happy with the development of D.J. Augustin, who leads the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio.<\/p>\n

21. Cleveland Cavaliers (5-7)<\/strong>
\n22. Detroit Pistons (5-8)<\/strong>
\n23. Memphis Grizzlies (5-9)<\/strong>
\n24. Sacramento Kings (4-8)<\/strong>
\n25. Washington Wizards (4-8)<\/strong>
\n26. Minnesota Timberwolves (4-10)<\/strong>
\n27. New Jersey Nets (4-9)<\/strong>
\n28. Houston Rockets (3-9)<\/strong>
\n29. Philadelphia 76ers (3-10)<\/strong>
\n30. Los Angeles Clippers (1-13)<\/strong><\/p>\n
