Clemson Tigers (5-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t envy Clemson fans this season. It\u2019s been an up-and-down year and the Tigers at times look like they deserve better than their 5-5 record (especially since they had such a tough schedule earlier this season). In their five defeats, they\u2019ve lost by only five points per game.<\/p>\n

Clemson\u2019s defense hasn\u2019t been that bad at all, ranking 33rd<\/sup> in total yards allowed, 30th<\/sup> against the pass and ninth in points allowed per game, but the Tigers\u2019 offense has been a letdown. Andre Ellington has been somewhat of a bright spot in the backfield, rushing for 684 yards and scoring 11 times, but he\u2019s probably out with a foot injury this week. Clemson could still be OK, though; Jamie Harper gashed Florida State for 143 yards on 27 carries in the Tigers\u2019 16-13 loss last week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

If Clemson (somehow) falls behind Wake Forest and has to throw the ball, however, it could be in trouble. Kyle Parker is supposed to be the exciting engine driving the offense, the athletic quarterback who chose Clemson over Major League Baseball, but he hasn\u2019t delivered. He has nine touchdown passes versus nine picks on the year; Florida State intercepted him twice last week.<\/p>\n

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-8)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The trying season continues for lowly Wake Forest, which has lost eight straight games. The Demon Deacons can\u2019t seem to do anything right. Take their game planning last week during their 38-3 loss to N.C. State, for example.<\/p>\n

Trailing by a mile, they decided to keep running the ball and running the ball even though they were totally ineffective. They averaged 2.4 yards per carry on 45 attempts. Tanner Price, their usually inept quarterback, was at least accurate playing a dink-and-dunk game, going 9 of 11. But Wake Forest just kept the ball on the ground anyway. Maybe it wanted to run out the clock and end its misery quicker?<\/p>\n

The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Demon Deacons have the country\u2019s 99th<\/sup> ranked total defense and allow 196.2 rushing yards per game. You can guess what Clemson\u2019s strategy will be. Look for the Tigers to take out a season\u2019s worth of frustration on Wake Forest and run them into the ground. Hey \u2013 we should give the Demons a round of applause for winning two games this year. How did they pull that off?<\/p>\n
