Tennessee<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sherbet and White need to win out for bowl eligibility, but they can probably tuck this win in their back pocket. Of course, nothing is a foregone conclusion with the way the Vols have played this year.<\/p>\n

That statement didn\u2019t apply last week, though. UT trounced Ole Miss by almost 40 points and the freshman connection of QB Tyler Bray (18-for-34 for 323 and three) and WR Justin Hunter (three grabs for 114 yards and two TDs) looked positively electric in Neyland Stadium. Junior Tauren Poole represents a nice option running the ball, and if UT carries even half of this momentum over to this week, Vandy is toast. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Vols have shown flickers of the talent they usually roll out season after season (16-14 narrow loss against LSU, crushing Memphis and Ole Miss) and a couple more wins to finish the season at .500 \u2013 a realistic possibility against Vandy and Kentucky \u2013 would make the sting less acute in die-hard Knoxville.<\/p>\n

Vanderbilt<\/strong><\/p>\n

Along with Ole Miss and Vandy\u2019s opponent this week, we have a triumvirate of vulnerable whipping dogs for the rest of the SEC. The Commodores have looked inept the majority of the time in 2010; nowhere is this more evident than being ranked 110th<\/sup> in the nation in points for and 91st<\/sup> in points allowed.<\/p>\n

Vandy has lost five straight games, and none of the contests have been close. Granted, the Commodores and their battered fan base hate the in-state Volunteers and a game in Nashville may cause Vandy to play with some rare spirit. Yet, the talent just isn\u2019t there and other than a 52-6 win against Eastern Michigan (EMU, by the way, might be the worst team in college football) Vandy has looked downright pathetic.<\/p>\n

If the Commodores are going to get up for any game, it\u2019ll be this one. Regardless, the absence of playmakers and the stirrings UT made in a convincing win last week doesn\u2019t bode well for the home side.<\/p>\n

The Pick:<\/strong> Look for Bray to keep up the strong performance against a hapless Commodores secondary and look for the Vols to look like an elite SEC team, even for just one more week. When you\u2019re rebuilding like Tennessee is, one must savor the small victories.<\/p>\n
