CAM NEWTON, Auburn<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite foul play accusations that are both swirling and accumulating, Newton has easily been the best, most valuable college football player this season. Though his eligibility may be on the wane with a rap sheet growing longer than Dr. Dre\u2019s discography, Newton gets it done on the field in every which way and has led Auburn to an unbeaten record \u2013 in the SEC, no less. With a couple games to play, 3,335 total yards and 38 total TDs is amazing, no matter which way you slice it. <\/p>\n

KELLEN MOORE, Boise State<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can see Moore leapfrogging LaMichael James in the Heisman race thanks to his remarkable consistency. James had a hiccup in a (fairly) substandard performance against Cal \u2013 a game Oregon almost blew. Boise, meanwhile, steamrolls all comers on the coattails of Moore\u2019s production and laser-like accuracy; he\u2019s completing 72% of his passes this year. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

The passes aren\u2019t dink-and-dunks, either \u2013 Moore is averaging nearly 11 yards per pass attempt, the highest of his career. For a non-AQ team, Boise is definitely looking BCS-worthy.<\/p>\n

LaMICHAEL JAMES, Oregon<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was almost a massive \u2018Whoops!\u2019 bellowed throughout Eugene as the Ducks grinded by the California Golden Bears 15-13 last week. Cal was the first team to handle Oregon\u2019s offensive line and though James showed a lot of heart and kept the Ducks\u2019 record unblemished, Oregon looked human. <\/p>\n

For the first time this season, James looked human too. Last week was the first time Oregon hasn\u2019t hit triple-digits in rushing yards. <\/p>\n

Still, James is easily the best running back of the 2010 campaign.<\/p>\n

Mentionables<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cANDY FRENZY\u201d \u2013 Andrew Luck, Stanford & Andy Dalton, TCU <\/strong>Luck and Dalton have both turned in memorable 2010 seasons, though neither will win the Heisman Trophy. <\/p>\n

Luck looks like a fantastic pro quarterback and Dalton single-handedly destroyed Utah\u2019s will to live a couple weeks ago. Newton, Moore and James, however, are simply too bright to eclipse.<\/p>\n
