Boston College Eagles (4-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boston College is by no means a complete football team but the Eagles really have played good defense all year. They held Wake Forest to 13 points last week, forcing five turnovers. Even though it was just Wake Forest, Boston College has bottled up plenty of better teams this season, too \u2013 like Clemson the week before. Overall, Boston College is 15th<\/sup> in the nation defensively, including third best against the run.<\/p>\n

Montel Harris had a big game last week for the Eagles, rushing for 183 yards and three scores, but quarterbacking remains a nightmare for Boston College. Chase Rettig threw for 133 yards and two picks last week. Really? Against Wake Forest? Ideally for the Eagles, they\u2019ll get an early lead and avoid passing situations whenever possible. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

Duke Blue Devils (3-6)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Duke\u2019s offense wasn\u2019t its usual self last week \u2013 but I don\u2019t mean that in a bad way. Instead of airing it out, the Blue Devils had major success running the ball against Virginia, tallying 230 yards. Since the Eagles are so effective against the run, however, look for Duke to return to its gunslinging ways this week.<\/p>\n

Sean Renfree has 2,270 passing yards and 12 touchdowns versus 15 picks this year. He\u2019s not perfect but he can exploit weak pass defenses. For Duke to have a shot against Boston College, it\u2019ll be up to Renfree. This Duke team allowed 643 yards to Virginia last week. If its offense doesn\u2019t deliver, it doesn\u2019t win.<\/p>\n

The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boston College isn\u2019t so great against the pass, ranking 74th<\/sup> in the nation, so I think Duke will move the ball on them and score some points via the aerial attack. However, I don\u2019t see Duke stopping Boston College either. The OVER looks pretty good to me as a result. Since Boston College at least has some defensive prowess, I like the Eagles to make enough stops here and there to cover the spread. Renfree may post some numbers but he\u2019s just as likely to turn the ball over a few times and give Boston College the edge it needs to win.<\/p>\n
