UTEP<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Miners had a real nice win over SMU last week.\u00a0 Somehow they were able to come up with the double digit victory despite being outstatted in the contest and the Miners have now reached the magical 6 win mark that makes them eligible for bowl consideration.\u00a0 It is a good thing too as their final two opponents present difficult opportunities for another upset victory.<\/p>\n

In the Miners upset of the Mustangs last week UTEP got a sharp game from much maligned QB Trevor Vittatoe.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t light up scoreboard but finished with 3TDs and no interceptions.\u00a0 He seemed to let the game come to him instead of forcing it, which is easier to do when you are playing with a lead the whole game.\u00a0 It also hepled that UTEP was committed to the run last week.\u00a0 They may not have had great numbers but an amazing 6 players reached double figure yardage led by Donald Buckram.<\/p>\n

These schools have just one prior meeting back in 1989.\u00a0 It should come as no surprise that that game was an easy win for the Razorback 39-7.\u00a0 From the spread the oddsmakers are not expecting this game to be much closer than that.\u00a0 Honestly it is hard to argue otherwise given what we have seen from these teams so far. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Arkansas<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Razorbacks are enjoying a good but not great season.\u00a0 Their only losses to date are to Alabama and Auburn, two of the better teams in the nation, and they have victories over South Carolina and Georgia among others.\u00a0 Unfortunately there appeared to be some lingering malaise after that Bama loss.\u00a0 They had the defending national champs in their crosshairs but let the game slip away, a trait of Arkansas teams of the past.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s new with Arkansas, at least since Bobby Petrino and Ryan Mallett hooked, up is one the of best passing offenses in the country.\u00a0 Even though Mallet has missed some time he should still crack 3000 yards this season and still might be the #1 draft pick in the nation in the spring.\u00a0 Last week he carved up the South Carolina defense even though his top receiver Greg Childs was out due to injury.\u00a0 This offense, especially with the development of RB Knile Davis can be scary.<\/p>\n

For the most part the Razorbacks have lived up to expectations this season.\u00a0 They are 6-3 ATS this season, covering in every one of their victories but one, the opener against Tennessee Tech where they were 49.5 point favourites (they only won by 41).\u00a0 The spread this week is a bit daunting but they can pull it off if their defense has another strong game.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>Arkansas will definitely win but the large spread gives me pause backing them in this spot.\u00a0\u00a0 I think the best bet is the over.<\/p>\n
