San Diego State<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Aztecs have only one conference loss on the season so if they could somehow beat TCU this weekend they could actually compete for the Mountain West crown.\u00a0 As unlikely as that seems it is indicative of how good a season they are having.\u00a0 Their two losses are to Mizzou and BYU by a total of only 6 points.\u00a0 This is a program on the rise and could easily fill the vacuum left by Utah\u2019s departure to the PAC 10.<\/p>\n

SDSU is thriving because they have one the best and most balanced offenses in the country.\u00a0 QB Ryan Lindley is continuing to progress and is made to look good by one of the best WR duos in the nation in Demarco Sampson and Vincent Brown.\u00a0 Those guys were a given but the emergence of freshman Ronnie Hillman, who already have over 1000 yards, really challenges defensive coordinators.\u00a0 He may be their best back since a guy named Marshall Faulk.<\/p>\n

The Aztecs haven\u2019t beaten TCU since joining the Mountain West.\u00a0 There is no real surprise there but it might be helpful to know that they are 2-3 ATS over those 5 contests.\u00a0 They have never been favoured in a game against the Horned Frogs and this year is the biggest spread in this series.\u00a0 SDSU is enjoying their best season in a long time but beating a time as good as TCU on the road is very unlikely.\u00a0 However, they can show the nation something by playing them tough. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

TCU<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wow!\u00a0 I didn\u2019t see that coming.\u00a0 The Horned Frogs absolutely dismantled Utah last week leapfrogging Boise State in the BCS standings in the process.\u00a0 They are only two games away from another perfect regular season and this week against SDSU will pose a far greater challenge than their finale against New Mexico.\u00a0 I am surprised that the schedule makers didn\u2019t try to make it a little more dramatic at the end for the sake of the conference.<\/p>\n

The Horned Frogs defense has been impressive all season long but was even more so last week.\u00a0 Utah owns one of the most prolific offenses in the country and they held them to less than 200 yards and only 7 points.\u00a0 They shutout the Utes for 3 quarters so by the time they put those 7 points on the board the game was already over.\u00a0 I know some people might now be questioning how good Utah really is but I think this might have been the single most dominant performance of the season given the calibre of the competition.<\/p>\n

As mentioned earlier ,TCU has never lost to the Aztecs and it seems unlikely this is a spot where that will change.\u00a0 The Horned Frogs are in an unusual positionin that there was so much build up for last week\u2019s game but it wound up being a cakewalk.\u00a0 Was it due to superior preparation or talent?\u00a0 We can\u2019t be sure but the fact that it was so easy means that whatever hangover they might have experienced should be minimized right?\u00a0 It was simply business as usual for one the best teams in America.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>TCU is still fighting to get into the championship game and I think their coach is aware of it.\u00a0 They are going to look to make another statement with their play but it going to be hard to top last week.\u00a0 I am going to pass here and wait to back the Horned Frogs in the championship game (Bold prediction).<\/p>\n
