The NFL\u2019s crackdown on dangerous hits continued this week when the league fined Nick Collins $50,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Roy Williams. The NFL didn\u2019t fine any Eagles for the collision with Austin Collie on Sunday. I have to say \u2013 the NFL got it right. Collins\u2019 hit was a dirty shot from behind whereas the hit on Collie was really just a pile of defenders crashing into him almost accidentally.<\/p>\n

An MRI on injured starting quarterback Matt Moore\u2019s throwing shoulder revealed a torn labrum. He is out for the season. The writing was already on the wall but the Buffaloes blew a 45-17 fourth quarter lead against the Jayhawks, who scored 35 unanswered points \u2013 the second most ever scored in the fourth for a team to win in FBS history. But Oakland? Didn\u2019t see that one coming.<\/p>\n
The Athletics have won the negotiating rights to Hisashi Iwakuma and have 30 days to sign him. Widely considered the second-best pitcher in Japan behind Yu Darvish, Iwakuma was 10-9 with a 2.82 ERA last year.<\/p>\n
