TCU<\/strong><\/p>\n

All the work that the Horned Frogs have done this season was to get to this point.\u00a0 Win and they state their case boldly for a spot in the Championship game.\u00a0 Lose and they wind playing South Carolina in the Cotton Bowl or something like that.\u00a0 Some were questioning the Horned Frogs early in the season because they weren\u2019t beating teams by enough but their defense has really sharpened up since then, their last 5 victories have all been by a minimum of 27 points.<\/p>\n

I have to admit I just love rattling off TCU\u2019s defensive statistics.\u00a0 They are first in the nation in points allowed, yards allowed and passing yards allowed.\u00a0 They rank only 9th in rushing yards allowed but limited Air Force the nations second best rushing to team to 180 yards when they beat them a couple of weeks ago.\u00a0 That my sound like a lot but it is 150 yards below their season average.\u00a0 This defense, despite graduation losses, is dominating teams and it is the best reason why what could be a close game could also be a blow out.<\/p>\n

TCU and Utah have been the leading teams in the MWC for the last several years.\u00a0 Both have had undefeated regular seasons and played in BCS games which is why it is surprising that the Utes hold a decided 5-2 edge in the series since 1996.\u00a0 TCU hasn\u2019t won at Utah in that time period but the Horned Frogs do own the largest margin of victory beating Utah 55-28 last year.\u00a0 You can bet that add a little sizzle to the contest.<\/p>\n

Utah<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some may be surprised that Utah is undefeated as they clash with TCU this Saturday though I can\u2019t imagine why.\u00a0 The Utes were favoured and won their opener against Pitt and have been favoured in every game since.\u00a0 Not only have they been winning but if you have been backing the Utes you have been cashing tickets as well, they are a fantastic 6-1-1 ATS this season.\u00a0 Only their last game against Air Force has even been close since the opener. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

While other teams may have stronger offensive reputations than the Utes, they have been mauling opponents putting up an amazing 45ppg.\u00a0 I think the reason that Utah is so underrated is they they really share on offense.\u00a0 They split the carries among two tailbacks and even play two QBs most games.\u00a0 This team may not produce a lot of highlight reel moments but they are creative and faster than you think which is why they are having so much success.<\/p>\n

A lot of that success has been against TCU in the past both at home and on the road.\u00a0 These two along with Boise State are the reason there has been so much noise about the BCS process of late with the Utes having won both of their BCS games in the past.\u00a0 They are looking for revenge from last year\u2019s loss to TCU and this game has extra meaning as it will be the last time these two meet as members of the same conference due to Utah\u2019s departure to the PAC 10 beginning next season.<\/p>\n

The Pick:<\/strong> There are two great teams and it would be cool if they could play a three game series.\u00a0 But in a single game I think you have to favour the team with the better defense which is definitely TCU.<\/p>\n
