2010 Breeders\u2019 Cup Race Preview – The Juvenile Turf<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 2010 Breeders\u2019 Cup<\/strong><\/a> will be run on November 5th and 6th from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. This year\u2019s Cup features 14 races over the two day period with 6 races scheduled for Friday and 8 races slated to run on Saturday. <\/p>\n

The Juvenile Turf \u2013 Saturday November 6th\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Post Time: 1:50 P.M. (EST)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Juvenile Turf is open to Thoroughbreds age 2 and up. It is contested on a turf track at a distance of 1 mile with a total prize purse of $1,000,000. There are three automatic bids awarded from wins in a designated Challenge Race for this division and the rest of the field is determined by total points earned over the course of the racing season. The following is a look at a few of the favorites that are expected to run this race.<\/p>\n

Air Support<\/strong><\/p>\n

This horse overcame a slower than expected pace and a jockey\u2019s objection to come away with a victory in the grade III $150,000 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park. The win in this \u201cChallenge Cup\u201d race earned him an automatic \u201cWin and You\u2019re In\u201d entry into the Juvenile Turf. Jockey Rajiv Maragh kept Air Support side by side with Soldat through most of the race and was able to pull away down the stretch to win by 1 \u00bd lengths.<\/p>\n

Rogue Romance<\/strong><\/p>\n

A last to first rally in the grade III $100,000 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland earned this horse a spot in the Juvenile Turf as part of the Breeders\u2019\u00a0Cup \u201cWin and You\u2019re In\u201d\u00a0Challenge Cup race series. Ridden by Julien Leparoux, the mild favorite was able to work his way from the back of the pack to go wide down the stretch to win by 2 \u00bd lengths over second favorite Cozy Kitten.<\/p>\n

Pluck<\/strong><\/p>\n

Back in July this horse won a won a $50,000 maiden weight special at Belmont Park and followed it up with an impressive win in the grade III $250,000 Summer Stakes presented by TVG at Woodbine on Sept. 18. This race was a \u201cWin and You\u2019re In\u201d\u00a0automatic qualifier for the Juvenile Turf. He went off as the 5-2 favorite and nudged-out 10-1 Rockin Heat by a length for the win.<\/p>\n

Madman Diaries<\/strong><\/p>\n

This horse established himself as a legitimate contender for the Juvenile Turf with a victory in the grade III $153,000 Sapling Stakes for two-year olds at Monmouth Park in early September. He had to fight off both Vengeful Wildcat and Chipshot down the stretch to win by a half a length. This was his third win in five starts including a victory in the Victoria Stakes at Woodbine earlier in the year.<\/p>\n
