2010 Amp Energy Juice 500 Predictions \u2013 Betting Preview + Picks + Odds<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Preview<\/strong>:\u00a0 There was a time a few years ago when NASCAR tried to make impound races the regular routine, but the idea did not catch on.\u00a0 This year, just three of 36 races are using the impound schedule, including both Talladega dates and the July race at Daytona.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Under the impound rules this weekend, the Cup Series held two practices on Friday which are the only two practices for the race.\u00a0 Qualifying takes place Saturday morning, after which the cars will be ‘impounded’ – no work can be done on them between the end of practice and the start of the race.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Denny Hamlin led Friday’s first practice while Mark Martin paced Happy Hour.\u00a0 Jamie McMurray and Kurt Busch had the fastest ten-lap averages in the respective sessions.\u00a0 Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch both topped 201 miles per hour in morning practice. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Safe Bets:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Kevin Harvick (7:2):\u00a0 Harvick has two restrictor plate wins this season, one at Daytona in July and one at Talladega back in April.\u00a0 Along with a strong superspeedway program this year, Harvick is riding a string of four straight top-10 Chase finishes into Sunday’s race.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

His last win was at Michigan in August.<\/p>\n

2. Jamie McMurray (7:1):\u00a0 Jamie Mac won this race last year and the Daytona 500 this year, along with the Brickyard 400 at Indy in July.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

He finished second at Talladega earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Dark Horse:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Mark Martin (25:1):<\/strong> Although Martin has only won twice at Talladega in 45 starts, he looked good in practice Friday.\u00a0 He had the fastest lap in Happy Hour and was fifth in terms of ten-lap average speeds.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Martin finished fifth here in April and is coming off a second-place run at Martinsville.<\/p>\n

Summary<\/strong>:\u00a0 Kurt Busch has been referred to as the best active restrictor plate racer without a win.\u00a0 Keep an eye on the Blue Deuce Sunday, especially if he can find someone to draft with late in the race.<\/p>\n
