Toledo<\/strong><\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t look good after the season opener for the Rockets.\u00a0 They lost 41-2 to Arizona and were embarrassed on their own home field.\u00a0 Since then things have improved dramatically.\u00a0 They have beaten everyone they were supposed to on their schedule, with the exception of Wyoming, and added an upset victory at Purdue.\u00a0 The Rockets are primed to join the ranks of the bowl eligible this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Rockets have been winning despite sloppy play from QB Austin Dantin.\u00a0 It may not matter this week against EMU but he has to stop throwing the ball to the other team.\u00a0 When he does connect with his own guys it is usally with WR Eric Page. Page has 61 receptions, good for fifth in the nation.\u00a0 He is not a gamebreaker but is very reliable and helps make the Rockets spread attack go by continually moving the chains. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Toledo has won the last three and nine of the last ten against the Eagles.\u00a0 That should come as no surprise given how bad EMU is but what is potentially of greater value is that they 8-2 ATS over that span – in only two of those contests was Toledo not favoured.\u00a0 Toledo should roll against an opponent they are familiar with beating this weekend.<\/p>\n

Eastern Michigan<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Eagles are a very bad team, maybe the worst in the nation.\u00a0 To their credit they did not schedule any FCS opponents for an easy win this year but there would have been no guarantees for them anyway.\u00a0 Their lone win on the season was a road upset of Ball State two weeks ago;\u00a0\u00a0 they have not been favoured in any game thus far and should not win any of the games left on their schedule including this one.<\/p>\n

The bright spot on the team is sophomore QB Alex Gillett, who is one a few quarterbacks across the nation leading his team in both passing and running.\u00a0 The Eagles are constantly playing from behind so there is not a huge amount of pressure on Gillett but he is still throwing more TDs than interceptions.\u00a0 As he continues to develop there is a glimmer hope for EMU on the horizon.<\/p>\n

This week\u2019s contest with Toledo is the shortest spread for EMU since the opener against Army.\u00a0 Unfortunately for Eagle backers that doesn\u2019t mean that an upset is imminent.\u00a0 The Eagles last win against Toledo was back in 2006 and they have been soundly beaten by the Rockets for the last decade.\u00a0 Another loss is expected on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>I normally seek out the underdogs but I think the Rockets are a solid favourite to back this weekend.\u00a0 EMU is giving up the second most points in the nation so winning by more than two scores should be a snap.<\/p>\n
