San Jose State Spartans (1-7)<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a trying season for the 1-7 San Jose State Spartans to say the least but perhaps a trip to Aggie Memorial Stadium is just what the doctor ordered. The Spartans are 15-2 in their last 17 matchups against New Mexico State and have won eight straight on the road against the Aggies.<\/p>\n

The biggest problem for San Jose State has been that whole \u201cscoring points\u201d thing. The Spartans average just 10 points, 73.4 rushing yards and 180.9 passing yards per game. Jordan La Secia just hasn\u2019t answered the bell as the field general. He\u2019s thrown only four touchdown passes compared to eight interceptions. But was there a glimmer of hope last week? La Secia quietly threw for 292 yards and two scores in a losing effort against Fresno State last weekend. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

San Jose State can\u2019t keep opponents off the board, either. It allows 34 points per game and has surrendered 32 touchdowns in eight contests. The Spartans allow 202.8 rushing yards per game. These guys just aren\u2019t very good.<\/p>\n

New Mexico State Aggies (1-6)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life isn\u2019t any better for New Mexico State. The Aggies\u2019 numbers are very similar to San Jose State\u2019s. They can\u2019t score either, averaging only 12 points per game, and they\u2019ve surrendered 34 touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Quarterback Matt Christian has completed less than 50 per cent of his passes and was a putrid 8 of 29 last week, though he did throw for two scores.<\/p>\n

The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bettors have a tough decision here, as they\u2019re choosing between the lesser of two evils. To me, the deciding factor could be the Aggies\u2019 brutal pass defense. Idaho lit them up for 304 yards and three touchdowns last week. La Secia has been bad but he at least flashed potential for San Jose State in his last start. Maybe he\u2019ll l find a way to take the Spartans downfield.<\/p>\n

Pick San Jose to win what should be an ugly game.<\/p>\n
