Titans at Chargers Week 8 NFL Football Predictions <\/strong><\/p>\n

San Diego won its last five matchups with the Titans by a combined score of 150-58 including last season\u2019s 42-17 win. However, this year\u2019s Chargers are not the epitome of what one could call a winning team.<\/p>\n

The Bolts is coming off their fifth loss of the season, this time against the surging Patriots, losing 23-20. It\u2019s the team\u2019s worst start in four years, and fans are wondering what\u2019s wrong with Norv Turner\u2019s offense, asking why they continue making so many mental mistakes.<\/p>\n

The Patriots came out swinging and held a 13-3 halftime lead because of \u2013count them\u2014four, Charger turnovers.<\/p>\n

No one can blame the quarterback Phil Rivers, as he continued his strong season, throwing 34 of 50 for 336 yards with a touchdown, yet the Chargers were down 20-3 heading into the fourth quarter despite limiting New England to 179 yards of offense.<\/p>\n

San Diego did manage a rally with eight minutes remaining, scoring two touchdowns to make the final score respectable. But much like the season\u2019s slow start, on the field there isn’t much concern about falling behind early on.<\/p>\n

San Diego continues to waste Rivers\u2019 excellent season, as the he has thrown for 2,344 yards and 13 touchdowns on 171 completions. Back up Billy Volek can\u2019t even get any playing time having thrown all of one pass, because of Rivers. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The upside is that the Chargers lead the NFL in passing yards with 317 per game, and that was with an injury plagued receiving corps. This week\u2019s game should give Rivers a few more options as the unit returns a few healthy contributors.<\/p>\n

Despite respectable numbers, the ground attack has been a letdown, managing 105.3 yards on the ground per game to rank 17th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The defense has built confidence and become a force, limiting opposing quarterbacks to 158 yards a game which is first in the league, and opposing backs have found a paltry 85.7 yards on the ground to rank 4th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tennessee won its third straight last week against the Eagles by a score of 37-19. The Eagles held a 13-7 halftime lead before collapsing in the fourth quarter as the Titans rallied for 27 points to win it.<\/p>\n

A big part of that was receiver Kenny Britt who caught seven passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns. It was the best game ever by a receiver against Philadelphia, breaking the old record of 213 yards.<\/p>\n

Tennessee took the lead for good with 9:26 left in the game, on a Britt touchdown and Rob Bironas\u2019\u00a0field goal.<\/p>\n

The win brought the Titans record to 5-2 and maintained their 1st<\/sup> place standing in the AFC South. The offense seems to be coming together as it has posted 30 plus points for three consecutive games, and four this season.<\/p>\n

Passing is an issue on both sides of the ball. QB Vince Young and back up Kerry Collins have combined for just under 171 passing yards per game to rank 29th<\/sup>, while the defense has allowed 230.4 to rank 23rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Rushing however, has been strength on both sides as well, as the offense has managed 131.3 a game for an 8th<\/sup> place ranking, and the defense has limited attacks to fewer than 98 yards a game to place 10th<\/sup> overall.<\/p>\n

Kenny Britt, the hero of last game, more than doubled his season totals; he has 434 yards on the season with seven touchdowns. RB Chris Johnson usually gets the ball and has 663 yards for seven touchdowns. If Britt\u2019s game wasn\u2019t a fluke, it will be a potent duo going forward.<\/p>\n

The Titans, who have shown they can capitalize on mistakes, have put together three solid efforts in a row. The Chargers on the other hand are mentally challenged and seem to approach every game nonchalantly as if it was a preseason game. The only thing San Diego can hope for is that KC folds much the way Denver did, because they aren\u2019t going to be picking up the win this weekend.<\/p>\n
