Alabama<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Third Saturday in October is always a classic college ball match-up, even if the Tennessee program is currently in a bit of a downtrend. The Vols\u2019 2-4 record is a bit deceiving, as they really came to play in a couple of their losses. Still, \u2019Bama could (perhaps even should) be unbeaten and is arguably the most talented program in the nation. If it isn\u2019t a complete cakewalk, Tide fans may not be on pins and needles. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

UT will likely have an exhausting time trying to contain \u2019Bama\u2019s ground attack. Much has been made of the Mark Ingram-Trent Richardson duo, and for good reason. Tide QB Greg McElroy is just a winner and has enough talent to distribute the ball anywhere to balance the offense. Vincent Jackson-like WR Julio Jones really isn\u2019t a bad start.<\/p>\n

In the unlikely even Alabama\u2019s offense has a hard time getting going, the defense is capable of pitching a goose-egg on the Volunteers. It seems like a straight case of a team at or near its pinnacle visiting a team facing strife, internal and otherwise.<\/p>\n

Tennessee<\/strong><\/p>\n

The immensely loyal, immensely proud UT fans are having a tough time of it in 2010. Some of it has been heartbreaking: the Vols fell to unbeaten LSU by a measly two points and they made a game of it against rival Florida. Yet Team Orange got crushed by unranked Georgia 41-14 last week and needed OT to beat UAB earlier in the season. The team ranks in the bottom 70 in the FBS in all measurable categories. Tennessee is in obvious rebuild mode.<\/p>\n

Junior starting QB Matt Simms, a Rutgers transfer, has been adequate \u2013 but that\u2019s all. After coaching and recruiting turmoil, UT badly needs to re-stock the shelves. Granted, this is a rivalry game on the Vols\u2019 home turf, so they\u2019ll absolutely be up for this game. But the chasm of talent is just too broad to predict an upset at Rocky Top.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>It\u2019s not very original to predict Alabama winning this game going away, but then again, it\u2019s not very wise to do anything else.<\/p>\n
