Cleveland Browns (1-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Mike Holmgren took over the Cleveland Browns this past offseason, he knew the ship wouldn\u2019t be righted in one year. So it\u2019s no big surprise to see the Browns 1-5 through six games. They\u2019ve also had some tough matchups, hosting Kansas City, Cincinnati and Atlanta and travelling to Baltimore.<\/p>\n

Putting points on the board has been a problem, as expected. The Browns average an AFC-low 14.7 points per game this season. The biggest reason for their struggles: poor quarterbacking. Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme both struggled to take Cleveland downfield before they each suffered ankle injuries.<\/p>\n

But is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Colt McCoy made his first NFL start under center last week \u2013 against a vicious Steeler defense in Pittsburgh. On paper, that was a nightmare matchup for him. Yet he survived; he was picked off twice but he went 23 for 33 for 281 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

With the Browns poised to fall behind and play catchup in this one, we should see plenty of McCoy again versus New Orleans. Unfortunately, it looks like he\u2019ll be without his top receiving options. Both Josh Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi were concussed by James Harrison last week and are long shots to play in Week 7.<\/p>\n

New Orleans Saints (4-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s more like it. After a frustrating, embarrassing home loss to Arizona, the Saints arrived in Tampa Bay angry. The passing game got back on track, with Drew Brees throwing three touchdown passes, and the Saints flew out to a 24-0 lead before cruising to a 31-6 win. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Brees remains the focal point of New Orleans\u2019 offense but the running game was a pleasant surprise last week. With Reggie Bush (broken leg) and Pierre Thomas (high ankle sprain) both out, Christopher Ivory broke out for 158 rushing yards on just 16 carries. Barring a miracle, Bush and Thomas will sit out again. Ivory could have another big day against a Browns defense allowing more than 120 rushing yards per game \u2013 especially if the Saints get a big lead.<\/p>\n

The pick: <\/strong><\/p>\n

An over\/under of 43 may seem low for a Saints\u2019 game, but it makes sense for two reasons. First off, the Browns\u2019 pass defense is respectable, allowing 228.8 yards per game. That\u2019s hardly outstanding but better than what you might expect from a 1-5 team. So I wouldn\u2019t expect Brees to throw for 400 yards in this one.<\/p>\n

Second, I actually think McCoy\u2019s matchup this week could be\u00a0more <\/em>intimidating than his visit to Pittsburgh. Even though the Steelers are a tougher unit than New Orleans, there\u2019s something particularly intimidating about playing in the deafening, claustrophobic Superdome against the defending champs. The Saints have the NFL\u2019s No. 7 pass defense and rank second in the league with nine forced fumbles.<\/p>\n

Playing in a tough environment and probably minus his top receivers, I expect McCoy to regress this week. The result should be very similarl to the Saints\u2019 last game. Brees will carry them to an early lead, their defense will hold and they\u2019ll let Ivory close out the game on the ground.<\/p>\n
