Key players lost \u2013 None <\/strong><\/p>\nThe Pistons are hitting the control\/alt delte buttons are starting over, figuring that 2009-10 was a washout and this season will be a better test of the moves that brought in free agents Ben Gordon and Charlie Villaneuva a little over a year ago. <\/p>\n
The acquisition of Gordon raised eyes around the league because he played the same position as the Pistons\u2019 best offensive player, Rip Hamilton, and it would have been interesting to see how minutes would have been apportioned. <\/p>\n
But Hamilton was hurt early and Gordon was hurt late, and the two never seemed to find any kind of rhythm in the few games they were both healthy and on the court together.<\/p>\n
The front line took a hit when Ben Wallace pretty much hit a wall and was nowhere near the player the Pistons figured him to be, and Rodney Stuckey never seemed to quite get what playing the point guard position was all about.![\"Online](\"http:\/\/affiliates.commissionaccount.com\/processing\/impressions.asp?btag=a_3953b_41\")

He finished with only 4.8 assists a game, and his collapse on the bench during a game in March scared the bejesus out of the team and raised question about his long-term durability. <\/p>\n
Stuckey is a free agent after this season and will have to show more than he has to get a big contract, with the Pistons or elsewhere.<\/p>\n
The whole bunch \u2013 add Tayshaun Prince to the mix \u2013 is back for another season, with GM Joe Dumars hoping against hope that 2009-10 was an aberration and that the team can get back to the playoffs after missing out on the postseason for the first time since the 2000-01 season. <\/p>\n
Problem is, Detroit is nowhere near as good as the top teams in the Eastern Conference and must battle it with the Milwaukees, Indianas, New Yorks and Charlottes for one of the final spots and the right to be eliminated in the first round.<\/p>\n
Surprising stat: <\/strong> Detroit\u2019s 27-55 record was its worst since the 1993-94 season.
\nStrengths: <\/strong> This is a veteran team that can knock off good teams if things break right.
\nWeaknesses:<\/strong> The front line has no one who can score. Pistons are too dependent on their backcourt for offense.
\nPlayoffs?<\/strong> Possible but not likely.
