Each week during the heart of the NFL season, and once or twice during the NFL Preseason, we\u2019ll gather the troops around the roundtable and hash out the\u00a0NFL Power rankings<\/strong><\/a>. We check out the stats, looks at the records, and, most importantly, we take a close, close look at the heart of each team.<\/p>\n

What is going on in the NFC, where teams that figured to have their way (Green Bay, Minnesota, Dallas, New Orleans) have taken some really bad losses? AFC teams hog the top three spots this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. New York Jets (Last week 1)<\/strong> \u2013 Mark Sanchez 2009: 15 games, 20 interceptions, 63.0 QB rating. Mark Sanchez 2010: 5 games, 0 interceptions, 91.7 QB rating<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  2. Baltimore Ravens (4) <\/strong>\u2013 Not having to deal with Randy Moss this weekend makes Baltimroe\u2019s defense even more effective.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  3. Pittsburgh Steelers (2) \u2013 <\/strong>Roethlisberger\u2019s return is under the radar due to Favre\u2019s indiscretions.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  4. Atlanta Falcons (7)<\/strong> \u2013 Speaking of under the radar, has any team been so good so early and gotten so little recognition? Falcons may be this year\u2019s Saints.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  5. Indianapolis Colts (11)<\/strong> \u2013 Big jump for a team that was life and death with the Chiefs. Colts\u2019 defense is OK but can\u2019t survive too many more injuries in the secondary.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  6. New York Giants (13)<\/strong> \u2013 With a lot of the NFC powers taking a step back, the Giants are moving forward. What they did to the Texans last weekend is illegal in most other states.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  7. New England Patriots (7)<\/strong> \u2013 Answer this question right and you\u2019ll know get a good feel for this team: Can Brady and the offense control the ball and keep the porous defense off the field?<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  8. Chicago Bears (12)<\/strong> \u2013 Nice little stretch coming up for the cubs \u2013 Seattle at home, Washington at home, bye week, then at Buffalo. Life is good.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  9. New Orleans Saints (3)<\/strong> \u2013 Whodat Nation might be wondering what\u2019s going on, but it\u2019s way too early to be concerned about a solid team that just turned the ball over too many times in Arizona.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  10. Green Bay Packers (5)<\/strong> \u2013 Last four weeks \u2013 62 total points in two home games and 30 total points in two road games.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  11. Kansas City Chiefs (9)<\/strong> \u2013 Style points awarded for a decent effort in Indianapolis, where young teams often go to die. Chiefs still have separation in a mediocre AFC West.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (25)<\/strong> \u2013 Fans in Tampa aren\u2019t impressed with the good start. The team announced that it is likely that no home games will sell out, meaning games will be blacked out on local TV.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  13. Washington Redskins (18)<\/strong> \u2013 Hasn\u2019t taken Mike Shanahan long to restore order to a franchise that has had a meddling owner, bad signings and a near-rebellion from Albert Haynesworth.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  14. Philadelphia Eagles (18)<\/strong> \u2013 Last season the Eagles got surprised (by the Raiders) on the West Coast. They didn\u2019t make the same mistake this season, holding on to beat SF<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  15. Arizona Cardinals (26)<\/strong> \u2013 Give these guys some love. After losing Warner and Boldin they were left for dead in the desert. Now they have to be favored to win the NFC West. Again.<\/li>\n

  16. Tennessee Titans (15)<\/strong> \u2013 Defense has 12 sacks in last two games, but secondary is still giving up huge chunks of real estate.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  17. Jacksonville Jaguars (19)<\/strong> \u2013 Most impressive stat \u2013 Jaguar games have gone Over four times as public still views this as a low-scoring team.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  18. Houston Texans (8)<\/strong> \u2013 Return of Brian Cushing didn\u2019t much help a defense that gives up an average of 409 yards a game.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  19. Miami Dolphins (21)<\/strong> \u2013 Must have been some interesting film sessions for the special teams guys over the past 10 days.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  20. Oakland Raiders (30)<\/strong> \u2013 Could be time to stop laughing at the Raiders, who pushed around the Chargers last week.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  21. San Diego Chargers (16)<\/strong> \u2013 Starting 2-3 is not the end of the world in the AFC West, but the Chargers are 0-2 in the division and need to press the accelerator pedal a little harder.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  22. Cincinnati Bengals<\/strong> (20) \u2013 Bengals figured to get fat against bottom feeders Carolina, Cleveland and Tampa Bay, but managed to go only 1-2.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  23. Denver Broncos (23) — <\/strong>No truth to the rumor that Tim Tebow has joined the witness protection program.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  24. Dallas Cowboys (14)<\/strong> \u2013 Cowboys say that Wade Phillips doesn\u2019t have to worry about being fired. Translation: Phillips needs to start worry about being fired.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  25. Minnesota Vikings (13)<\/strong> \u2013 To paraphrase the late Al McGuire: Close the prayer book, Brett. Mass is over.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  26. Detroit Lions (27)<\/strong> \u2013 OK, beating St. Louis like a drum doesn\u2019t quite get you a spot in the front of the line. But Detroit has been knocking on the door all season.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  27. St. Louis (17)<\/strong> \u2013 Sam Bradford has been better than advertised, but the Rams have to get the kid some receivers.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  28. Seattle Seahawks (24)<\/strong> \u2013 Seattle desperately hopes Marshawn Lynch can stabilize what has been an erratic offense so far this season.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  29. Cleveland Browns (28<\/strong>) \u2013 Colt McCoy may get his first start at QB this Sunday against the Steelers. In Pittsburgh. Gee thanks, coach.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  30. Carolina Panthers (31)<\/strong> \u2013 Look on the bright side of things: They saved a lot of money by letting Julius Peppers go.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  31. San Francisco 49ers (29)<\/strong> \u2013 The owner says the Niners will still make the playoffs, despite fact that SF is in a deeper hole than those miners in Chile were.<\/li>\n

    <\/p>\n

  32. Buffalo Bills (32)<\/strong> \u2013 Owner Ralph Wilson admitted the obvious this week \u2013 the team is bad and needs at least three years to get better. We assume that means three years on top of the last decade in which they have also been lousy.<\/li>\n
