Tulsa<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Golden Hurrican have been pretty average this season.\u00a0 Yes they are 3-2 but they were beaten badly by the two best teams on their schedule, giving up a ton of points to East Carolina and Oklahoma State.\u00a0 They are 1-1 in the conference but can catch SMU with a key road victory on Saturday night.\u00a0 They were successful in beating the Mustangs in Dallas two years ago but they were a heavy favourite in that one.\u00a0 This time they are the underdog.<\/p>\n

QB G.J. Kinne did not have a very good season last year.\u00a0 This year he has been better although he is still throwing it to the other guys more than he should.\u00a0 He has also proven that he is not he steadiest performer mixing good games with bad games.\u00a0 When he is good the Tulsa offense looks like the juggernaut of a couple of years ago.\u00a0 When he is bad the TOs just kill the offense and punish the defense.<\/p>\n

With these two teams there is definitely going to be a lot of balls in the air and points on the scoreboard.\u00a0 Tulsa\u2019s pass defense has been absolutely shredded this season, they are third worst in the country and are giving up almost 300 yards per game.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

SMU will definitely attack them through the air (they always do) and should have no problem moving the ball against one of the worst defenses in the FBS. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

SMU<\/strong><\/p>\n

SMU is only a few key plays away from BCS Buster status and coach June Jones must be wondering what if.\u00a0 They lost by a TD to Texas Tech in the opener and definitely had their opportunities against TCU a couple of weeks ago.\u00a0 This is definitely a program on the rise and they are 2-0 in conference, tied with Houston at the top of Conference USA\u2019s West Division.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs are happy to get their leading rusher Zack Line back from injury but they are still going to primarily move the ball by the forward pass.\u00a0 QB Kyle Padron is demonstrating increasing mastery of June Jones offense and it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if some are looking at him as the leading QB in this pass happy league next year.\u00a0 For now he is certainly good enough to pick apart the overmatched Tulsa defense.<\/p>\n

No team has dominated in terms of victories in this series but SMU has won six in a row and eight of ten ATS.\u00a0 Pretty amazing given their were some very lean years in there.\u00a0 For whatever the reason they have always been able to hang with Tulsa but now they are the favourite role for the first time since 2002.\u00a0 They are 0-1-1 ATS as a favourite this season so lets see how they handle it.<\/p>\n

The Pick:<\/strong> Given the relatively modest spread I think SMU is the smart play here.\u00a0 Clearly they have had Tulsa\u2019s number in the past and are the considerably better team this season.\u00a0 Let\u2019s keep it up under a TD though.<\/p>\n
