The Miami Hurricanes are out of the BCS championship running but, if last week was any indication, they\u2019re over it. Their defense led the way as they romped Pittsburgh 31-3 in an impressive road win. They sacked Tino Sunseri five times and held Pitt to 232 total yards.<\/p>\n

However, even the victory highlighted Miami\u2019s biggest disappointment so far this season: Jacory Harris. The Heisman Trophy hopeful has been anything but through three games. In Week 2\u2019s disastrous loss to Ohio State, he threw four interceptions. While Harris was better last week against Pittsburgh, throwing for 248 yards and two scores, he added two more picks to his line. That gives the Hurricanes\u2019 leader six touchdown passes and six interceptions on the season. That\u2019s just not good enough and it doesn\u2019t bode well against Clemson\u2019s solid secondary this week.<\/p>\n

At least the \u2019Canes can also do damage on the ground; Damien Berry has rushed for 226 yards, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. He hasn\u2019t exploded for that huge game but perhaps that\u2019s simply because he isn\u2019t getting the rock enough. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

Clemson Tigers (2-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clemson hasn\u2019t been perfect in 2010 but the Tigers are probably happy with their start \u2013 mainly because of what they\u2019ve seen from quarterback Kyle Parker. After choosing to stay with the team rather than join the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball, he looks like he made the right decision so far.<\/p>\n

The Tigers aren\u2019t throwing a ton yet; they lean heavily on their rushing attack, which averages 215 yards per game. But they\u2019re slowly but surely taking the reins off Parker and he\u2019s flashed plenty of potential so far. Parker has six touchdown passes versus just one interception this season. Imagine where Miami would be if Harris had that kind of ratio.<\/p>\n

Even though Clemson lost a heartbreaker to Auburn last week, Parker had somewhat of a coming out party, throwing for 227 yards and two scores and helping Clemson fly out to a 17-0 lead (which they blew).<\/p>\n

The pick: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Miami fans and bettors should be legitimately worried about Harris. He\u2019s talented but can\u2019t stop making mistakes. Against a Clemson team that has nine sacks in three games, he\u2019ll feel the heat again.<\/p>\n

But Harris is at least experienced; he\u2019ll make a few bonehead throws but he\u2019ll make some plays too, as he did at Pittsburgh last week. Parker has a bright future but I don\u2019t think he\u2019s ready to handle what Miami will throw at him defensively. Sunseri had sparkling numbers before the Hurricanes dismantled him last week. Pittsburgh\u2019s Dion Lewis is also just as dangerous if not more dangerous than anything Clemson will throw at Miami on the ground \u2013 with respect to Andre Ellington. If Miami bottled up Lewis, it can handle Ellington.<\/p>\n

Expect a hard-fought game where defense, not offense, takes center stage. Miami should grind out a tough win \u2013 and this game should fall under the total.<\/p>\n
