One of these teams will be strapped with its first loss of the season when the 3-0 West Virginia Mountaineers take on the 3-0 LSU Tigers in a Big East- SEC showdown this Saturday night in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. (ET).<\/p>\n

West Virginia has suddenly become the pride of the Big East as Rutgers and themselves are the only two teams left without a loss. The Mountaineers opened the season at home with a 31-0 rout of Coastal Carolina as a 41 \u00bd point favorite. The following week as a 12 point road favorite, they needed some last minute heroics to pull out a 24-21 OT win over Marshall. <\/p>\n

Last week as a 10 point home favorite, West Virginia put together its most solid effort of the season by building a 28-0 lead early in the third quarter en route to a 31-17 victory over Maryland. The defense was smothering until the game was out of reach. QB Geno Smith continued to put up impressive numbers completing 19-of 29 attempts for 268 yards and four TD\u2019s. RB Ned Devine ran for 131 yards on 27 carries, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. \"NFL<\/a><\/p>\n

LSU is 3-0 this season after grinding out a 31-24 win in its season opener over then-No.24 North Carolina. The Tigers came into this one as a 7 \u00bd point favorite with the game being played at a neutral site (Georgia Dome, Atlanta). They followed this up with a lopsided 27-3 win over Vanderbilt as a 10 \u00bd road favorite.<\/p>\n

Last Saturday, in a SEC West battle, the Tigers handled Mississippi State 29-7 as a 7 \u00bd point home favorite. It was kicker Josh Jasper\u2019s five field goals and the defenses\u2019 five interceptions that paced the win. LSU\u2019s offense, led by QB Jordan Jefferson, struggled a bit as it could not find the end zone with most of its drives ending up stalled near the goal line.<\/p>\n

West Virginia is 7-3 straight up in its last 10 games but just 4-6 against the spread. The Mountaineers are 2-2 SU and ATS in their last four games on the road. The total has been evenly split in their last 10 games but has gone \u2018over\u2019 in three of their last four.<\/p>\n

LSU is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games and 5-5 ATS. The Tigers are 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS at home in their last five games. The total has stayed \u2018under\u2019 in six of their last 10 games and three of their last four.<\/p>\n

These are two of the more stingy defenses in the country as West Virginia is ranked ninth in points allowed and LSU is ranked fifth which should favor a low scoring affair. It will be difficult for the Mountaineers to pull off the upset on the road but they should still be able to keep it close enough to cover the 6 \u00bd point spread.\u00a0<\/p>\n
