2010 Sylvania 300 Predictions \u2013 Betting Preview + Picks + Odds<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Preview<\/strong>:\u00a0 It’s the first race in the NASCAR Chase, but it’s the last time the Chase will kick off at Loudon, New Hampshire.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\"\" Race:<\/strong> Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon)
\nDate<\/strong>: Sunday, September 19, 2010
\nTime<\/strong>: 1:15 PM EST (scheduled green flag)
\nTV<\/strong>: 1:00 PM EST on ESPN<\/p>\n

Thanks to NASCAR’s 2011 schedule realignment, next year’s Chase will start at Chicagoland, with Loudon moving to the second spot in the Chase lineup.<\/p>\n

This season, the Sprint Cup Series made its first visit to Loudon in June, with Jimmie Johnson the victor.\u00a0 Mark Martin won the fall race last year and Greg Biffle the year prior.\u00a0 Loudon is a flat 1.058-mile track often compared to Phoenix and Richmond, so drivers who do well at those tracks are likely to excel here, too.<\/p>\n

Brad Keselowski is on the pole for Sunday’s race, his first-ever Cup Series pole.<\/p>\n

Safe Bets:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Denny Hamlin (7\/2):\u00a0 Hamlin won last week at Richmond and starts the Chase as the number one seed with six wins in 26 races this season.\u00a0 He won here in July of 2007 and has never finished outside the top 15 in nine Loudon starts. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Hamlin starts 22nd for Sunday’s race and finished second in this race last year.<\/p>\n

2. Tony Stewart (5\/1):\u00a0 Stewart starts Sunday’s race on the inside of row two and has two prior wins at Loudon, most recently in 2005.<\/p>\n

He was the runner-up finisher here in June and has two top-5s in three Loudon starts with Stewart-Haas Racing.<\/p>\n

Dark Horse:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Juan Pablo Montoya (28\/1):\u00a0 Montoya fits the category of drivers who do well at tracks like Phoenix and Richmond, although he hasn’t had the finishes to show for it.\u00a0 JPM qualified fifth for Sunday’s race and started on the pole in this race last year, finishing third after leading 105 laps.<\/p>\n

Summary:<\/strong> Look for the 12 Chase contenders to be on their best behavior Sunday as they tentatively set forth on their quest for the 2010 championship.\u00a0 No one wants to make a mistake that will cost him in points and even non-Chase drivers will try to avoid ruining a Chaser’s chances.<\/p>\n

Sunday’s weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high near 70\u00b0.<\/p>\n
