Chicago<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bears stole victory out of the hands of defeat in the opening week against the Lions.\u00a0 They were losing for most of the second half and were it not for a controversial call at the end of the game they would have lost to Detroit, beginning another season of disappointment.\u00a0 Instead they slink away with the victory heading into a date with Dallas in Big D on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Lost among the final result is that the Bears put up over 460 yards of offense, a total they did not match a year ago.\u00a0 Matt Forte might have been stymied in the running games but he had 151 yards on seven receptions including two TDs proving that he can be a very dangerous playmaker after a down year last year.\u00a0 QB Jay Cutler seems to be adjusting just fine to new OC Mike Martz\u2019 offense, throwing for over 350 yards against Detroit.\u00a0 Never one to be perfect he did have the one pick but he moved the offense consistently.\u00a0 The main reason this game was close was turnovers.\u00a0 The Bears loss three fumbles against the Lions.\u00a0 Against a better team like Dallas it will be hard for them to win if they don\u2019t protect the ball.<\/p>\n

The Bears and Cowboys have not met in the regular season since 2007, an easy 34-10 victory for Dallas.\u00a0 Despite being conference mates and historic franchises there isn\u2019t much in the way of history between these clubs.\u00a0 Don\u2019t quote me but I do not even think they have ever met in the playoffs(I\u2019m sure that is wrong but I just can\u2019t remember it happening).\u00a0 Based on last week\u2019s results Dallas really needs this game and will be highly motivated in their first home contest.\u00a0 Look out Chicago! \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Dallas<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other than the Jets there was no team that received more hype this offseason than Dallas.\u00a0 Hoping to become the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium they were a trendy pick for the big game from everyone including the owner Jerry Jones.\u00a0 Then they went out and stunk it up during the preseason, following that with an ugly opening game loss to division rival Washington.\u00a0 As a result no team needs a victory more this week than the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

On the surface\u00a0 the Cowboys should have been victorious last week.\u00a0 They outgained their opponent by more than 100 yards, averaged a solid 4.7 yards per carry and only turned the ball over once.<\/p>\n

They lost because they mismanaged the game, creating a controversy this week regarding who was responsible for their gaffe at the end of the first half, where a fumble recovery for a TD led to a 10-0 halftime deficit.\u00a0 Also not to be overlooked is the fact that they had a dozen penalties in the game.<\/p>\n

Dallas has a lot of talent but they make it easier for less talented teams to beat them when they don\u2019t play disciplined football.<\/p>\n

As alluded to earlier Dallas desperately needs this game.\u00a0 An 0-2 start including a home loss to the Bears would create an unmanageable environment for the team, especially with a couple of tough games later this month.\u00a0 If I liked the Bears more as a team I might be prompted to predict a Dallas implosion but I think the talent gap is too wide.<\/p>\n

Even though Cowboys coach Wade Phillips isn\u2019t highly thought of as a motivator, the material he has to work with is definitely on his side and in an emotional environment, like it will be a Cowboys stadium this Sunday, the Bears are likely to make a mistake or two with Cutler at the controls.<\/p>\n

The Pick: <\/strong>As long as this stays at 7 I think the Cowboys are a comfortable pick here.\u00a0 Any higher and the ledge they are standing on seems a little too thin.\u00a0 Would love for this to come down a half point….they could also win 34-10.<\/p>\n
