Golf news: Tiger Woods makes the Ryder Cup team as a captain\u2019s pick<\/strong><\/p>\n Admittedly, I thought for a moment that Corey Pavin would pass on Tiger Woods as a captain\u2019s pick for the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup team. After all, Tiger has struggled this season and could be a distraction. But then I realized it\u2019s still Tiger Woods, arguably the greatest golfer of all time. You just can\u2019t leave him off a Ryder Cup team.<\/p>\n And Pavin didn\u2019t. Yesterday, he named Tiger one of his captain\u2019s picks. The other selections were Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink and 21-year-old Rickie Fowler. Only Fowler, who hasn\u2019t won anything on Tour, was the big surprise. Many expected Pavin would\u2019ve chosen J.B. Holmes, Anthony Kim, Lucas Glover or Charley Hoffman over Fowler.<\/p>\n MLB news: Four players ejected from Brewers win, including fan; Hoffman notches 600th save<\/strong><\/p>\n It was a wild one in Milwaukee last night. It started with a fan \u2013 44-year-old Sean A. Ottow. Police cited him for disorderly conduct, as he was heckling Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. <\/p>\n Home plate umpire Bob Davidson stopped the game and ejected him. Ottow then stood and raised his arms in the shape of a \u201cV,\u201d getting a big cheer from the fans at Miller Park before getting ushered out. Ottow claims that he was \u201cbantering back and forth\u201d with Molina and that Molina convinced the umpire to remove him.<\/p>\n There were other unrelated ejections in the same game. Brewers manager Ken Macha got tossed for arguing a call in the second inning; Cards pitching coach Dave Duncan got the heave-ho for arguing balls and strikes in the third; Brewers center fielder Chris Dickerson got tossed for slamming his helmet in the fifth after being called out on strikes.<\/p>\n But all the ejections didn\u2019t rob Trevor Hoffman of his moment. The Brewers closer notched his 600th<\/sup> career save last night, adding another milestone to his MLB-leading career total.<\/p>\n It\u2019s not headline worthy, but Ozzie Guillen just touted himself as Chicago\u2019s next mayor via Twitter. Probably a joke, but you never know with Ozzie.<\/p>\n NHL news: Sheppard hurt in ATV crash; Comrie, Modin, Halpern find new teams<\/strong><\/p>\n Minnesota Wild forward James Sheppard was viewed as a work in progress, a guy with potential to develop into a scorer at the NHL level. Now, the road to stardom gets even harder for him. Sheppard fractured his kneecap early this week in what was reportedly an ATV accident. He\u2019ll be out until at least December.<\/p>\n A few NHL teams made late-offseason signings this week. Mike Comrie, hubby of Hilary Duff, signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh. Fredrik Modin took his howitzer of a shot to Atlanta in a one-year deal of his own.
