The University of Connecticut Huskies travel to Ann Arbor, MI. to open their 2010 season against the Michigan Wolverines in a Big East-Big 10 matchup between two teams with high aspirations this year.<\/p>\n

Connecticut finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 8-5 and a 3-4 record in the Big East. The Huskies lost to three ranked opponents last season (North Carolina, West Virginia, and Cincinnati) by a combined total of eight points, proving that they can play with anyone.<\/p>\n

Michigan opened the 2009 season by winning five of its first seven games, but fell apart down the stretch with five straight losses. The Wolverines ended the season 5-7 overall and 1-7 in the Big 10. With pressure mounting on Head Coach Rich Rodriguez to turn things around, a win in the home opener suddenly becomes crucial. <\/strong><\/span>\"College<\/a><\/p>\n

Zach Frazier returns for one more season as the Huskies starting quarterback. In 2009 he passed for only 1,461 yards but did have 10 TD throws. The main weapon for this offense will be RB Jordan Todman. Last season Todman rushed for 1,188 yards on 235 carries and scored 14 TD\u2019s. With Andre Dixon gone you can expect Todman to put up even bigger numbers this season.<\/p>\n

Michigan\u2019s offense should be far better off than last season as there are a number of experienced players at the skill positions for Rodriguez to choose from. At quarterback he has Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. Robinson is projected to be the starter but Forcier should see some time behind center as well. The rushing game will be a running attack by committee as Vincent Smith, Mike Cox, and Michael Shaw are all capable runners. Another back to watch is Stephen Hopkins.<\/p>\n

UConn lost quite a few players from last year\u2019s defense but one player that is expected to see action for the Huskies is\u00a0\u00a0MLB Greg Lloyd. He is currently listed as the starter for this game. At first he was thought to be lost for the season with a knee injury, but now appears ready to go.<\/p>\n

Michigan\u2019s secondary could be a cause for concern as their five defensive backs have a combined 10 starts on their resume. There are also a few new faces sprinkled among the front seven that will be making their first start.<\/p>\n

The Wolverines should be able to pullout the win and cover the three, but the \u2018over\u2019 bet could be the best play as both these teams will be able to put points on the board against a couple of very suspect defenses. Another strong reason to play the over is Connecticut has gone over the total line in eight of its last 10 games, while Michigan has gone over it in six of its last 10 games.<\/p>\n
