On to round two of the FedEx Cup playoffs, which will feature the top 100 players in the points standings. Last week, Matt Kuchar finally got the win he deserved after so many strong efforts throughout the season when he edged Martin Laird in a playoff at the Barclays.<\/p>\n

In doing so, Kuchar also finally gave yours truly a correct tournament winner pick.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s try to keep the momentum going with the Deutsche Bank Championship. The host course, TPC Boston, is one of the easiest on Tour but high winds could make things interesting this week. Here are the potential picks on my radar.<\/p>\n

THE TIGER CATEGORY<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tiger Woods<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +715<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take long for the sportsbooks to vault Tiger back atop the favorites in an attempt to sway more layman bettors. Sure, Tiger looked good in his opening round last week and it\u2019s possible that finalizing his divorce took a mental weight off his shoulders. But when a guy hasn\u2019t won all year and gives you a smaller return on your bet than any other golfer, he\u2019s not an appealing pick.<\/p>\n

THE ELITE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Steve Stricker<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +1015<\/p>\n

Maybe I\u2019ve been too hard on Stricker for never competing with the big boys? He did in fact win the Deutsche Bank last year and had top-13 finishes here the three years before that. His game is in the right place \u2013 he finished third last week \u2013 and he\u2019s fourth on Tour in putting. Stricker is mighty tempting this week.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +1615<\/p>\n

Rory finished a disappointing 56th<\/sup> at the Barclays but all hope is not lost. He had three straight top 10s before that and his long ball could play very well here if the track gets a little wet. He\u2019s not a horrible play.<\/p>\n

THE CONTENDERS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Dustin Johnson<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +1850<\/p>\n

Like McIlroy, Johnson will benefit massively if the course doesn\u2019t dry up over the weekend. He was ninth at the Barclays and he led the field in both driving distance and greens hit. He\u2019s hitting it long and straight. I love Johnson this week. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Matt Kuchar<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +2050<\/p>\n

Is he the Player of the Year frontrunner? Leads the Tour in money, FedEx Cup points and top-10 finishes and enters the week sizzling hot after his win at the Barclays. The only reason to bet against Kuchar is that we rarely see the same guy win in consecutive weeks on the Tour.<\/p>\n

SOLID PICKS<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jim Furyk<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +2550<\/p>\n

Jim \u201cDNP\u201d Furyk should be anxious to stick it to the PGA after getting disqualified from the Barclays last week. He finished eighth at the Deutsche Bank last season and seventh the year before that. He\u2019s got two wins and five top-five finishes in 2010. Furyk is always a safe pick who gives you decent value because of his age.<\/p>\n

Adam Scott<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +3050<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget about Adam Scott, who won this tournament in 2003. Statistically, he looks very intriguing this week. Scott is seventh on Tour in greens and was on his game last week, putting very well and hitting tons of greens en route to a ninth-place finish. A great mid-range choice.<\/p>\n

THE SLEEPER<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ben Crane<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deutsche Bank Championship odds: +8050<\/p>\n

Who, Nelly \u2013 +8050 is some serious value. It\u2019s especially attractive when you consider that Ben Crane ranks in the top 25 in every major PGA Tour stat category this season. Crane is second to Matt Kuchar in all-around ranking and leads the Tour in birdies or better on par-4s. He was 12th<\/sup>last week and 10th<\/sup> at TPC Boston last year.<\/p>\n

THE PICK<\/strong><\/h3>\n

My gut tells me Adam Scott will contend this week and that Steve Stricker won\u2019t go quietly defending his title. Ben Crane\u2019s better than 8 to 1 value makes him worth considering too. But the young guns keep popping up near the top of the leaderboard. I like Dustin Johnson, who has five top-fives and a win already this year.<\/p>\n
